Huh? Why would it?
Even if it only dropped 30% for this weekend and next, that means that next weekend it's doing 11.4M. If Fifty Shades opens to 75M, then it would have to drop by 85% 2nd weekend. Lol... American Sniper has had a great run but it's not getting #1 again.
Lol you're scraping the bottom of the barrel there.
Why are you so negative about this film? What's it done to upset you? It's just a dumb romance movie.
I think it's pretty ignorant of anyone to think that this will follow the same pattern as something like a superhero movie. Completely different audiences.

I'm not losing hope until I see the actuals on Monday haha
It's a bit early to write it off. As said above, the film has a much higher than usual proportion of older fans, and has been marketed and designed to be seen on saturday. Club isn't dead just yet.
I don't think that's particularly disappointing tbh. I know some people were thinking $15M+ but this is a film that people were mainly wanting to see on valentine's day. Where I am, they didn't even do Thursday night showings.
100M 3day is not out of the question at all.
Either way, I don't see how anyone can be disappointed with an opening night on par with Marvel films.
I haven't seen Foxcatcher or Theory of Everything but Benedict was SO overrated in Imitation Game. Rubbish film with a decent but not amazing central performance. He really overplayed the whole Sheldon Cooper thing and to me it wasn't very convincing, let alone standout.
Eh, I find the Oscars a waste of time as a whole. It's just a bunch of people's opinions. I don't really care what they think, I care what I think.
Biggest Oscar snub was easily Oyelowo.
So this is just about the consensus among regular people? Not our own opinions on whether critics were right/wrong? The latter seems much more interesting...
Well, I'm just talking about from my perspective. Clearly I haven't met enough people!
Regardless, it is an absolutely fantastic film. Easily Fincher's best.
