Damn, I'm jealous
Not sure about other countries but over a third of the UK watches the World Cup final, as well as almost 1/3 watching Wimbledon final.
Eh, I find all sports boring to watch. There's no difference in them for me, although running is easier to understand what's going on.
Obviously it's not, but American Sniper is the film that has everyone talking at the moment. I just want to know if people think it has a chance at all - I know it's unlikely either way.
Does anyone think American Sniper could win Best Picture? I was looking on a betting site and they have odds of 50/1.... it's super tempting to put some money down on that, since I'd say the chance of it happening is a lot higher than 2%. I mean, I know Boyhood will probably win, but given how Sniper has kind of taken over the whole of America, it's a possibility.
Yes, by like a hundred miles. Tom Hardy is phenomenal in Locke. It's rare to see a film that relies so heavily on its central character's performance, and even rarer to see one that pulls it off.
The Fault In Our Broadband Connection?
I'm sure Whiplash got in, I know lots of users think it's top 10 or top 5 material (and a couple who have it at #1)
I saw 30-something films in 2014, which is way more than I usually do. NatM was one of them, and since it was actually decent, it made my top 25. 25 usually covers everything I see, so even Transformers almost made it.
Night at the Musem 3 is good though, make no mistake.
No, I doubt TASM2 is on the list.
I didn't think Godzilla was particularly good. I thought the amount of Godzilla in the film was perfect, it's just everything surrounding that was poor. The first act was strong thanks to a compelling performance from Bryan Cranston, playing an interesting character. But after he died, it was left to Aaron Taylor-Johnson, which is never a good thing. The human drama went downhill fast.
Period drama about race and gender issues, I think. It got pretty good reviews but it's mostly unknown. Some critics have called it the best film of 2014. I only heard about it recently, when one of my favourite critics said it's in the top 10 films of the year.

I'd love for this short film to win. It is very short, but I really connect to it emotionally. It's deep - it conveys the idea that due to all the chaos in our lives, we sometimes struggle to see things for what they are, and that ultimately everything we know may be a lie. Its lead character is a convincing portrayal of someone who is from another place, but who inside still has that human flaw of walking into traps and problems.
