Saw Ant-Man at a matinee yesterday and got there 1/2 hr early and the place was empty. I'm so used to Marvel movies being so crowded, it was a shock when I walked in. Ended up being a so-so crowd so the BO makes sense. Trainwreck's number is also meh, but analysts will make it sound better than what it is since critics, writers, etc, like Amy Schumer so much. A vulgar feminist HAS to be a hit.

Weekend 3/13-15 Official Estimates: Cinderella 70.1m, RAN 11m

Didn't the first Twilight actually have decent legs since it didn't open gigantic? -

When Emma Stone first came on the scene, she talked about not wanting to be the typical Hollywood actress who starves herself. Well, she has lost a ton of weight and is exactly what she said she would never become. -

Sophie Turner would be a great choice. She's actually got some meat on her bones and isn't sickly-stick-thin-anorexic like Emma Stone. Emma Watson comes across as too serious and stuck-up. Jessica Chastain could play the mom mermaid. -
Fifty Shades of Grey (2015)
GumbyandPokey replied to #ED's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
Dakota Johnson would really be something if her legs weren't literally stick-thin and shapeless. Give her Vanessa Hudgens legs and she would be incredible. Never realized this was some kind of Twilight fan-fiction. But certain scenes (like the piano playing...not nearly as good a scene as in Twilight) are almost imitations. I almost expected them to leap into the giant trees while walking in the forest. I have to say, though, that I was expecting the worst movie ever made and it wasn't that bad. And I never read the books but the S&M wasn't really that big of a deal (and I'm a real prude). -
I had been planning to see McFarland USA, but almost every review made it seem like a giant political statement (which the critics loved) in favor of amnesty and illegal aliens. The "social message" was discussed more than the quality of the movie itself. Thought Hispanics would come out to see this in big numbers.

Weekend Numbers Jan 23-25 pg 46(AS 64 mill, Mom's cookies 15)

Don't know if it was the best, but I enjoyed Gone Girl the most this year. Well done and entertaining, imo. Liked Birdman but it got to be a bit much after a while...might have been that constant drumbeat. Really pulling for Michael Keaton, though. Such an unaffected, normal guy. Don't know if I really liked Whiplash or not. Thought the language was out-of-control vulgar, but I have to admit I didn't check my watch once and was completely engrossed as to how the story would end. But, wow, is that girl from the film a total miscast for the upcoming Supergirl show. Heard so many good things about A Most Violent Year but it's release schedule kind of caused it to disappear. Still want to see it if it ever comes to town. Boyhood was best gimmick, but not best movie. Imitation Game and Theory of Everything were decent but that's it. -

Christoph Waltz pretty much plays the same character over an over again, imo. Vocal inflections and mannerisms are always identical. -

Wouldn't be surprised if Sunday's business for AS is better than expected due to all the sellouts last night. -

While I was working out today, CNN ran a hit-piece on the film and Chris Kyle. The only movie that matters to people (for good and bad) now is American Sniper. -

For anyone who has seen Mordecai, is the film as unfunny as the trailers? I realize you don't want to give away the best bits in the preview, but there wasn't a single laugh in it. -
