True. But that doesn't mean all those that viewed the trailer plan on checking out the movie. I know some who watched it for the sheer fact the original scared them when they were younger and have no plans to actually see this adaptation.
I agree with all of this. Which is why I currently have it at 45M. If it were to do something like 60-70M that would be outstanding. But I really don't want to be set up for disappointment if the final OW numbers are something in the 40s which is still great for a film like this.
It won't be seen as a flop but plenty will see it as a disappointment which is riduclous. If you took the trailer record out of the equation anything over 30 M OW would be great. I'm still sticking with my 45 M prediction.
Sadly I think it'll be lucky to outgross the first's domestic. Sure the reviews are great but it would really have to break out to reach over 100 million which even TC2 barely did.
But other than Split (just a cameo anyway) were any of those movies worth his dignity. I mean co-starring with Zach Morris and Hayden Christiansen. Thank God for Glass next year.
That's where I currently have it pegged which if it weren't for the record breaking trailer would be seen as a huge succes. As much as I would love something like 200 million DOM it's best to keep expectations realistic and in check.
When I was younger I used to think this was seriously some big movie because I knew him and Renee Zellweger were big names and the first TCM was huge to me so it made sense to a 7-8 year old me that they would do it.
