  1. Uh... No Tree of Life which has made some very important "all-time greatest" lists. It could end up being the only film remembered from this decade.
  2. Bowing down to you, girl. I don't understand why this is such a tough concept. I'd say he has been second a few times though.
  3. Boyle is getting some tepid ink, but if he fixes the end I think he could get nominated. DOR is going to turn it out and Joy looks and sounds like his most inspired film to date. Expecting him to win. I'm still thinking Son of Saul is going to be top 5 BP and Nemes has a good chance as well. So, I'd say DOR Haynes Fukunaga Boyle Nemes Innaritu will surely be in there, but I'll wait on that.
  4. RT scores mean next to nothing. That being said Carol will be the best received film of the year. Whether that mean RT or a more comprehensive aggregator I haven't decided yet. I'd say TFA and Joy will also be in the high 90s. Son of Saul too. Miles Ahead is being pinned as 2016 release homie.
  5. Winslet is also in because she gets good notes and is a campaign monster. And how isn't screenplay sure fire?
  6. You're right. If they fail, it doesn't matter. If they win? They were the first to report it. It is disgustingly mainstream and useless, especially in September.
  7. They are referring to Redmayne's somewhat tepid response but lol. Fassbender is now the front runner and Redmayne's is very much in contention. Leo might not even get a nom. I hate the Leo zeitgeist.
  8. Those last ten minutes most be horrendous. That is amusing. It was noted as a "work-in-progress" screening. I still think Hooper is in it and am betting on Joy. DOR needs an Oscar more than Boyle.
  9. I don't know. It is getting capital R raves. I feel like the critics could push it in. Just by mentioning the Oscars, it puts it in a nice perspective and give the Academy something to look for. This just may be the festival darling with Beasts of No Nation and Anomalisa.
  10. And Spotlight's Telluride hype is huge.
  11. Yeah. Award talk too. Heart of Dog is getting raves and so is Anomalisa.
  12. Because I don't like the cast, director, campaigning strategy, aesthetic of the stills/trailer, genericism, promotional materials, or maybe disinterest in the subject? I don't have to justify not wanting something to do well( we all do it and it is completely valid. For example, despite being a huge feminist, I didn't want Suffragette to do well because I'm apathetic towards Mulligan and it looks like this year's Imitation Game. I also dont want to see Depp in contention this season because I strongly dislike his filmography and think there are much more inspired choices.
  13. Heart of the Sea isn't an Oscar flick. It'll probably premiere at AFI and it isn't the type of movie that could build hype from just that. I think it is just a commercial play.
  14. Everything I was excited for is flopping and everything I want to fail is doing well.
  15. lol at Hooper getting ostracized. Culture yourself, The Stingflop. Anywho, Venice was an awful place to premiere this. On the outside it looks like prestige project, but it is utterly too American to have done much better there. It'll do much better at TIFF.
  16. Not buying it yet. Truth would have to be really good. I think it is just testing out the response though. I'd be happy if she ends up where she belongs. In other news, Vikander is likely to get pushed supporting since Danish's initial reaction is on the tepid side and Mulligan is getting raves.
  17. I feel like the Seventh Seal omission is criminal.
  18. She's coming for all of you. The Maracopalypse is here.
  19. I'm not too confident about Steve Jobs. I think it could get quite a few nominations, Winslet and Screenplays seem like locks, but I think it will struggle for top 5 BP or Best Director. Most of the pundits are thinking the best picture winner isn't at Telluride this year. I think it is between Joy and Danish Girls, with The Revenant and Beasts of No Nation possibly on striking distance. Joy seems to have a good chance as it may be time to award DOR.
  20. I don't know guys. Reception seems positive but not that strong. It is doing okay on MC, but nothing great.
  21. I mean, I doubt that. It might not even be the best journalism movie of the year because The End of the Tour is absolutely excellent. That being said, I am very excited to see this at TIFF and am fascinated about the subject, as I am a journalist. I'm also exited about the new Blanchett journalism themed film, Truth.
  22. Beasts of No Nation is certainly not baity. In fact, on paper it seems like Oscar poison.
