  1. Who plans on going to the premiere? Barring tragedy/not being able to get a ticket I will be in attendance.
  2. I'll also bite: 1. Joy 2. The Danish Girl 3. The Revenant 4. Beasts of No Nation 5. Carol 6. Inside Out 7. Bridge of Spies 8. Steve Jobs 9. Son of Saul ----------- 10. Youth Our Brand is Crisis, The Hateful Eight, Suffragette, Star Wars and Fury Road are probably 11-15. Not feeling very confident about Brooklyn, In The Heart of The Sea or Black Mass being huge Oscar heavy hitters. If Miles Ahead of The Big Short (which tests on Wednesday) come out this year they will both be in my top ten.
  3. Kietel was certainly singled out at the Cannes screening and the date is perfectly set up for a huge awards season. Besides, it is old white dudes aka what The Academy is mostly made up of.
  4. I think the casting is perfect. I never got a really internal vibe from Carol. The whole book has a subtly that just can't be translated to film I think Mara looks brilliant though.
  5. I'm so sorry! You are right, it was Inglorious that had a summer release. Didn't Django miss screeners though? According to the industry people, the delays are with the 70mm and retrofitting theaters. I don't know. It is probably just gossip.
  6. My bias being shown, he is releasing this in Austin in its intended format the week of the 25th. I'll be in Austin then. He has to make that deadline.
  7. Django was close but it was admittedly, a tougher edit. Putting something on that weekend completely prevents any leeway though. I think that is why it is a lot more "doom and gloom" over Django. If I'm being honest I really want Carol be TWC main focus this season so if they push this back I wouldn't be too upset.
  8. It is just industry people opening their mouths on Twitter. I have no reason to doubt a Tarantino movie gets behind though. It is sort of characteristic of this dude. Just trying to fill my buddies at BOT in!
  9. Rumor has it, this is really behind schedule. Very good chance it won't be released this year.
  10. This isn't so much of a commercial play lol. There must be some confidence though because of the crazy budget.
  11. This is definitely being released with the hopes of getting reward traction. Look at the stars, director and release date.
  12. Sundance is more infamous about that. Just look at Dope and Me and Earl and The Dying Girl.
  13. I really want to see House of Leaves be made. It would be impossible but a successful adaptation would be a huge step in the way of film's telling unwieldy narratives. I think I wanna take a stab at it one day in a perfect world.
  14. This trailer was so well crafted. I am definitely going to try and see this at TIFF.
  15. Couldn't agree more. The chilling aesthetic is awesome.
  16. He's barely in the book. The book was fantastic, but this won't be for everyone or is a slow burner and quite sentimental. The techs look really phenomenal and this will be acting powerhouse for the two ladies. I hoped Mara goes lead and this can be nominated for two lead actresses which hasn't happened since Thelma and Louise. Therese was the main character and it was told through her perspective in the novel, but apparently there have been talks of pushing her supporting for the season.
