Sorry I'm not referring to you in particular, am just saying there have been so many posts about wanting Minions to fail, even with its 115 million debut, people kept saying not a record, flop etc. IO and Minions will make around the same DOM, with Minions making more WW, both are wins in their own right. Thanks for clarifying your points:)

I see Minions making around 75 million in China at worst, 100 at best. What do you think?

we also have to remember Minions isn't really a DM3..it's a spin-off so more like DM2.5..A spinoff that will make almost 340 or 350. So I say it's not a TS3 but also not a Shrek 3 which earned a 2.6 and not a 3 that Minions will get.

340 million would be a 3 x mutiple, which is very decent. 350 would be maybe 3.2 and I won't rule this out just yet. Agree that the WW gross would be much more profitable.

Exactly. So much over reaction. This franchise remains the only non Disney franchise to come near to 300 million DOM in 2 or more films. And it still has a decent shot of hitting 1 billion WW

With the current pace of OS, how much do you think this is looking -China? Am thinking..615 million without China, am I going too low?

If Minions makes only 50 million this weekend, it will probably end up with 350 - 360 million DOM if it keeps falling 50% in the next 2 weeks: 50 million (2nd weekend) - 218 million 25 million (3d weekend) - 268 million 15 million (4th weekend) - 298 million 10 million (5th weekend + labor day bump) - 318 million 7 million (6th weekend) - 332 million 5 million (7th weekend) - 342 million 3 million (8th weekend) - 348 million 1 million (9th weekend) - 350 so 350 seems to be the minimum it can get to at the moment if the 2nd weekend drop is over 55%.

And that's an interesting point here - Shrek 3 fell pretty hard during weekdays during its first week. Made half of what Minions did.

Minions might get the crown for highest opening week ever if it crosses 10 million tomorrow which it probably will, and in this case it will be the highest ever week 1 opener for an animated film. Pretty significant and not sure if it will be reported on news sites (they tend to care about OWs more than full weeks though). TS3's week 1 haul is 167.
