So, about a 6% drop? Pretty solid.

Still pretty early for him. But since @Rth gave us an early update he might not be planning on coming back tonight.
ya but he gave that around 8 pm EST, margin of error on that would be fairly high. West coast was still in Matinee, and central was just hitting evenings.

so was that it from Rth? Maybe he just needed the day off lol. It was a very early estimate, curious to see how it holds up.

was not the highest grossing movie all time
and that unacceptable snub is the reason I will never watch another asscar broadcast.
JW was good. But good should not win the BP Oscar.

BOM just updated a bunch of foreign territories. It seems Venezuela is the 1st territory where TFA passed Avatar. Ven updated to 9.2 mil much more than the 5.1 mil Avatar had or the 6 mil Titanic had.

I think Disney would be happy to have the "First movie to reach $1B DOM".
thought the same thing when I read the post. Almost implied 200m was a bigger deal for a studio to make sure a movie clears than 1 bil....

900 million? Is that even possible as a final total, let alone by MLK?
ya, my model has it at decent drops week over week from here on out (like 40-50%, before leveling off in low 30s late jan) and it his 900 mil on the 16th or 17th. At 976mil 7 Feb still doing over business (like 800-950k weekdays, and 6 mil that weekend). Based on this it could crawl past 1 billion in mid-late Feb.

pretty much the same monday-tuesday drop as last week. Its still really early. I want a min of 28.6 to hit 600mil today.
-
my guess is attendance is higher today but total revenue is a small drop. (cheaper tickets)

It should top $300+ million more by the end of its run.
gap could be 250 to 260 by the end of this weekend.

So both Avatar & ROTK fell about 5% on their 2nd Tuesday, guess that's what we can expect today. Somewhere in $29m range.
1st day of better weather in the past 3 days. I am not calling it, but it might help it stay flat.

1.16 Bil. Still rolling, I like how int is starting to beat DOM daily now (gap increased). I think we should end up with a 40-60 split if China performs reasonably.

This forum lights up only when Rth gives an update, rest of the time it moves slower than a snail ?
To be fair it is 6:11 AM EST right now.... Heck I am only on because its only 1:11 AM my time..... lol.
That said time to go to bed. Guess I will find out in the morning if we end up closer to 33mil or 31.5.... lol.

I think even if SW 7 doesn't do great, it might still push a general interest and SW8 (if of similat accessable story....) could get condiderable higher
From time to time as a reminder or ... in especial for the newbes:
exchange rates in relation to the different movies you like SW 9 to compare to, have changed.
Depending to the year and country partly a very lot.... or 'only' ~ 20% (and some might even be stabile)
There is a thread at the international BO area by peludo that shows more details
I think we see a trend similiar to the Avengers and Age of Ultron. Yes there will be a decline in DOM take, its going to be hard for any movie to top TFA the rest of this decade. But I think we will see gains overseas to help offset this, in the end the WW total will fall somewhat short of TFA but still close enough.

When in doubt, always go with Rth, unless his update is significantly earlier than another.
ya, when he gives a single number like 33 I assume its going to end up .5 mil lower or higher as the window. Deadline probably is just playing it safe, and 31.5 is an amazing number anyways too. No need to guess high in DL's case.

so do we go with 31.5 or 33?

if the 33 holds, no doubt. Knowing Disney it ends at 599.75

Lol, SW7's 2nd Monday is 3 times bigger than Jurassic World's 2nd Monday
TFA's gap over JW is going to be 160m through 11 days if this holds. It only needs a 110gap to beat Avatar. So ya. That is locked up tight.
Magic gap is 340.... that means 1 billion.

dont like that method really. It does not take volume into account directly. %'s up front or worth much more than %'s later but this does not show that.

It's running neck and neck with the US and UK for per person dollar amount.Yep, US, UK, AUS, and if we break off Canada for DOM numbers are killing it. Its doing well elsewhere, but in basically the English speaking world it is doing historic numbers.

Should be hitting 900mil MLK weekend.
Star Wars TFA Tuesday Actual: 29.5M !!! (-6%)

It possible that JW could fall on Friday, and Avatar on Sunday. Would be crazy to knock them both out in 1 weekend.
