TFA doing 2.5x daily what Jurassic World was doing at the same point.  On day 74 Jurrassic World was at $639.6m and it got to $652.2m.  TFA is currently at $926.2m

Should be able to get to $940m by the end of the run.

Right now, yes, but Jurassic World got a re-expansion starting on day 78 (574 theaters --> 1239 theaters)

Which gave it a $3M week-end at the same point in their runs (the upcoming week-end).

    $935-940 million

In retrospect, your week-end predictions were decent enough, however you over-estimated the weekdays by a very large margin.

February is known for really small weekdays but inflated week-ends. You inflated the weekdays as well, which explains why your total is so far from the current total while the week-ends are pretty close to your predictions.

What perspective are you offering other than saying TFA has made a ton of $? I see nothing in this post or your other that suggests anything different (which is as far from new as you can get).

You never know when to quit don't you? Of course comparisons don't bring something new for someone who already compared it (i.e. you, me). For others, however, it can offer a new perspective.

If you don't want to discuss movies that make lots of money though... why are you even here?

It's more annoying to me personally than anything else, for the nth time I like the TFA & am very impressed by its run. The comparison you gave brings nothing to the table that hasn't been stated many times already. Not getting into the expectations/surprise around TFA vs Deadpool again but that has something to do with it.

You're just mad about it. I'm quite aware of what has been discussed before here, thank you. I compared a recent movie with latest-of-the-minute box office news with TFA, so that pretty much proves it hadn't been stated already.

And it brings something new to the table: perspective.

Also, I bring up $$ on a box office forum, and you're mad about it... on a box office forum? Do I even need to point out what's wrong with this?

Great hold for SW7 (-22%).  Only 7M away from passing TS3's multi of 3.76 which would be a record for 100M+ OW. Tremendous OW followed by tremendous legs.

edit: And Transformers 3 opened on a wednesday  nevermind

    Uh... great hold!

  6. I would want John Williams to win obviously, but my guess is that

    CAROL

is gonna take the crown this year.

    2. Star Wars

    3. The Hateful Eight

People are underestimating TFA's score by a wide margin, under the notion that the themes weren't noticeable on first viewing. But in my opinion, it's one of his best scores yet.

It's just that the themes are less "in your face" than usual, that's all.
