  1. Nothing's too crazy for "Disney is paying off critics" Grace.
  2. In my mind, it's still a twist, and kept secret from the rest of the group. For "realism" sake or some off written line. Not saying it would be good, but to me it makes her inclusion less show horned in if she was apart of the heist during it, than after. Really, trying to stay within the confines of the original structure I'm not sure what could be fixed that doesn't create problems. In the end I enjoyed it well enough I'm not mad at it, so at least that's something.
  3. I don't know. It's just there to service a reveal twist, that could have worked better. Though thinking back, was it only Hathaway who didn't know about it, I don't really remember, which would make sense since she wasn't apart of the heist proper. (I would have had her becoming apart of the group before the heist, but only revealed afterwards) Maybe afterwards Hathaway complains it was all for naught, and they surprise her with the jewels. The more I think about it, I'm not sure that works, but such is life.
  4. It's fun enough, but the joining of the Hathaway was weirdly tacked on, and the "Twist" of the heist was kind of boring. I'm curious why none of those jewels would have been inspected when they were returned to the proper owners as well. I almost feel like the twist would have worked better, if they hadn't also been able to sell off the big necklace, like Bullock had to give it up to keep everyone safe, only to reveal the other haul instead. I don't regret watching the movie, and I'd like to see more of these characters, but the movie itself is just...okay.
  5. Lesbian Space Indiana Jones: A Star Wars Story
  6. The question is, is it wrong to want her to get her own movie, partly for the anger she would cause some fans for merely existing.
  7. Yes, how dare people talk about movies they'd like to see. We must always, always be serious, and never have any joy or fun when talking about something we love. Star Wars is serious business and we must never actually enjoy it.
  8. It is so good. Being the only one I manage to stay current with. I haven't even started the second run of Darth Vader yet.
  9. Ohhh, fun space morally grey lesbian Indiana Jones will be fun. And it'll piss off a portion of the fan base that deserves it. P.S. I love Dr. Aphra almost as much as I love Hera.
  10. Someone doesn't visit the politics thread. I figured I'd start in a saner thread before trying an SW one. I almost thought of coming back sooner, but then the Kelly Marie Tran thing happened, and I thought, maybe not yet. ((I will not get off your lawn. It's comfy!)
  11. I got the feeling reading some of the statements that this is less "Cancel everything" and more, slow down everything, take a breath, and don't try making a bunch of things at once. Keep the eye on Episode 9 right this moment, and worry about any of these side movies/projects after that.
  12. I could easily write off most of the supernatural stuff as in their minds, up until Peter sees Annie suspended in mid air stabbing her neck repeatedly. In my opinion perhaps the most chilling part of the movie for me, is Peter sobbing in the attic calling to his mom, hearing her banging like mad to get in, and that quick cut to her slamming her head at that speed. That's still vivid in my mind, and it's been nearly a week since I saw the movie.
  13. Now I just want to double feature Hereditary and The Babadook. Or just watch Babadook again.
  14. I liked the movie well enough. It probably could use another pass or two on the script. But Jodie Foster sells the hell out of it. And everyone else is enjoyable to watch.
  15. Or that Peter has just broken that much after everything while staring at the severed head of his sister on a mannequin. It's just another way to read the ending. Edit: Also, I didn't really read into Charlie being possessed by Paimon at all during the movie, so the clucking, to me, is associated with Charlie and not Paimon.
  16. This movie is fantastic. I certainly buy into the hype of it. I'll try not to go over what anyone else has said, but what really got to me was that thin layer of surrealism on the film. The use of the dioramas specifically. Where I'm pretty sure some establishing shots of the house and treehouse were models. That at times even the rooms themselves looked more models than an actual set. Which does make me question how much of what we see is really happening. Yes I do think there is a creepy cult at the end, but how much of the truly supernatural stuff is actually just the fucked interpretation of two very messed up people, Peter and Annie. My only other thought is whether Peter is actually possessed at the very end. And not, just completely in fucking shock, much like after he accidently killed his sister. He's acting in very much the same kind of way.
  17. I liked the movie. Maybe Han isn't as cynical as I'd like. And it drags a bit. The ending teases sequels I'll doubt we'll ever see. And Darth maul coming back was weird. The guys I saw it with didn't actually think it was Darth Maul, cause he was dead. So I explained he lived. So yeah. Solid B flick. I think I'll be saying bye now. to all the people I enjoyed talking to, it's been a blast. To everyone else...be well and healthy and may you find whatever it is that will make you happy. Maybe I'll see ya around.
  18. I agree with this. It's just easier in the long run. Though it does make me sad one of the lines that will forever stick with me I can't use. "We'll be joining Daddy soon." Said by a mother to her children as Godzilla closes in on them, from the original Godzilla.
