  1. Personally I thought The Gentlemen having good reviews, an all star cast and Guy Ritchie directing would lead it to a decent OW.
  2. Really hoping for a mini break out for this movie. I wonder if it can be a good counter programmer for what’s out right now.
  3. Yea but that’s more on the marketing than anything else. Obviously this movie doesn’t look like a James Bond film in budget but that’s because it doesn’t have anywhere near the budget. But from my understanding the source material is associated with an ex MI6 agent (Jude Law’s character) and I feel like if they focused more on that and how he’s recruited Blake’s character, it would have felt more like a spy thriller and a much better sell than trying to sell it as another revenge flick. All in all, I def think there were better ways to sell this as spy thriller and for me at least the second trailer does that much better than the first. This trailer makes it feel more Bourne-like than the first one and the tone in this second trailer should have been the way they marketed the movie from the get go.
  4. I haven’t read the source material but to be fair on paper this movie *should* have worked. It’s a pretty solid director. Solid cast. Produced by EON during a time when people want a female Bond. Music composed from Han Zimmer’s company. Released by a major studio. But for whatever reason some movies just don’t work.
  5. Completely shocked that Finn wasn’t able to get some of the Stranger Things fans to watch this especially since its PG13 cause the tracking thread....YIKES
  6. I’m sorry but I have to laugh. Not at the trailer but at Paramount who literally did nothing to promote this movie and now 10 days before release they’re like here’s a trailer that highlights our action film produced by James Bond producers 💀 But also as trailer track mentioned in one of their tweets, they think this is all coming from Paramount UK and the US is just jumping in on it. So I do wonder if there was pressure from EON on the UK subdivision to actually promote this movie and that’s why they’ve been doing most of the marketing.
  7. I hope both of those films recover otherwise we are looking at two OWs in the single digits...
  8. I’m sure people have seen it but if there is an embargo then not sure they can say much anyways.
  9. Why would you disrespect The Gentlemen and Last Full Measure by grouping them with Dolittle. Shame on you!
  10. Especially since it’s coming out the weekend after The Turning
  11. Let’s hope this is decent. I got tickets for Saturday night for this. The first of many female directed films I’ll be supporting this year
  12. And yet Underwater wasn’t that badly reviewed (pretty sure it’s in the 50s on RT which isn’t that bad) The Sebastian Stan movie has good audience reviews thus far and has been screening for months. Seems like some studios don’t really know how to assess their “trash” and then don’t know what to do with a movie that may have had production issues. We shall see about The Turning and this movie.
  13. So then her promoting on social media isn’t gonna do anything now is it 😝
  14. Thank you! Don’t feel like you have to look at them since like you said presales probably won’t have much action for those movies until later in the week
  15. @keysersoze123 do you have any data on the movies opening this weekend? Was just wondering how The Turning and The Gentlemen are looking especially with BB3 breaking out big time.
  16. If I’m not mistaken, the only talk shows she’s done from what I’ve noticed are GMA, Kelly and Jimmy Fallon the week of release. And then when it comes to the different fashion choices or whatever again if I’m not mistaken that’s usually done when she’s going to either interviews regarding the movie or talk shows. I don’t know if interviews regarding the movie are happening this week or not but she can’t really promote a movie if the studio isn’t giving her material to promote lol
  17. Dear John and that dumb Hannah Montana movie made like $30M each. Again that was years ago but obviously there was an audience there. And it's not like the super bowl is the whole weekend. You're pretty much losing half of Sunday but on a normal non summer weekend, Sunday nights are pretty dead anyways so really you're losing a quarter of a day. Studios decided to just dump random ass movies there and well here we are
  18. Paramount UK is promoting this more than Paramount USA. They’ve added “From the Producers of James Bond” on the posters to the UK addition which should have been the first thing that was done for this film period. Either way: RIP
  19. Honestly if a studio got its shit together and released a really good movie directed at females, this weekend would do fine imo And not even just female films....the first Taken did fine during this weekend although that was a while ago. I guess what I’m trying to say is there are shockingly some people who don’t have interest in the SB who wouldn’t mind going to the theaters this weekend. Give them something good, and it wouldn’t be too bad. Especially since there would be very little competition too.
