Superhero "fatigue" is indeed happening in the sense that the ceiling may very well be lower than it was 6-8 years ago. I doubt a film ever sells as many tickets domestically as THE DARK KNIGHT did (which was a much larger number than 3D boosted Avengers). That said, the floor seems to have picked up for them quite a bit/

Regardless of pathetic reviews, a 2016 Batman movie featuring Superman in 3D with developed overseas markets should not be coming $125 million below a 2008 Batman movie without 3D, 8 years of inflation, Superman, and dramatically improved overseas markets.

    Stop comparing bVS to TDk.

as they are two different franchises. The Dceu needs to make its own way as it is totally different as far as characters.

200M less ? Exaggeration much ? It was only 100M less and the movie wasn't anywhere near as good with nothing much to offer outside of them just being together again to fight a bad guy. IW is a culmination of 10 years in the making. They didn't set a 500M budget for no reason.

Sorry I don't know why I keep thinking T:A made 1.6bil(1.5) but my point was the talks of AOU making 2bil is what lead to the 191o.w being seen as a disappointment by some.

     I agree.

No such thing as comic book movie fatigue, but the bloom's off the rose.

When we have 4 or 5 comic book films a year, and every single one of them adheres to the same tropes and story beats, of course none of them is going to make 600 million.

I mean, I guess the only big enough "event" at this point would be a DC/Marvel crossover...

"Crossover"?? I don't need to see any reviews or Trailers, nor an image and I'll will buy 20tickets

Infinity War is a lock for 1.5B. Only question is how much more than that it's making.

AOU was a lock for 2bil but ended 200mil ww lower than TA.

People really need to start getting these expectations in check as I:W could barely beat out Civil War at the WW Boxoffice.

A Collage of characters doesn't guaranteed boxoffice returns,The movie has to also be good as well.

Problem with the DCEU hitting Avengers level is they already blew their wad with BvS. Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman all in the same movie was quite a novelty to waste 2 movies in and with no buildup for 2 of the 3.

That is something that has yet to be determined as JL could explode.

The problem with BVS was Expectations were entirely too high for its Boxoffice.

Nobody respects the film growth in Boxoffice from MOS.

Will the DCEU ever have an Avengers size behemoth at the box office ?

Or any movie involving Iron Man since that movie for that matter, especially WW ?

Give it time,Many forget The Avengers was the 6th film in the Franchise.

The Dceu only have 4 so far but that is a hard number to achieve in today's market no matter the name brand.

Some notable things that got cheers at my showing:

    WW's first appearance in costume.

All the big action beats. And most of the minor ones.

    The trailer for Dunkirk.

    The trailer for BladeRunner 2049

    The trailer for Justice League

Anecdotally, not only were there cheers for JL, but several of the women in the audience vocally praised Jason Momoa. And maybe some men, too.

I had the same reaction from the (mostly)elderly crowd last night.

    Also good vibes for SM:HC

The thing is SS had a ton of buzz and awareness outside of the typical comic book crowd especially in the youth and female crowd....

Also, WOM was rather toxic within the superhero community but to a lot of the general audience said 'its a stupid film but it was fun'

People enjoyed the film so they rewarded it with a big o.W and decent legs.

The Joker wasn't the big draw but the film itself was.

Is it so hard to believe that some portion of people went to see this iteration of joker after the legendary performance by Heath Ledger?

Is it hard to believe that more than the Joker had draw for the film???

I mean there were also Will Smith along with a few other big names in the film as well .

The success of the film wasn't only because of the Joker.

No it really is true. A lot of friends in the music community never comment on movies and a lot commented on going to see this specifically for him and being let down to find out he only had 8 minutes of screen time or whatever it was.

Plus I think Harley and The Joker were the biggest Halloween costumes last year. But it was mainly the trailer that sold people.

Poll says Harley Quinn and Deadshot were the top draws.

Sure the Joker had some draw but the film didn't make 325dom and 740 Ww just because of him.

I already addressed the problem I personally had with it when you responded to me and your response at the time added nothing to the conversation. Your response was pretty much telling me to not comment on the situation. That's not criticism.

The complaint altogether added nothing to the conversation.

I wasn't saying not to comment on the situation I was saying there is no situation.

I feel there is no problem here so that's somewhat  criticism.

I was responding to another poster who asked me why I think it's embarrassing to low ball WW the way Warner Bros is. And I'm not the only one who thinks they're low balling the film nor am I the only one who has commented on it. If you don't like what I have to say, then just keep scrolling along.

All I'm asking is what's the problem?

why does it have to be a bad thing if a studio lowball a film that they have financed?

Maybe they are just going with their  initial  Expectations.

By the way of you like  criticism in a box office discussion...."just keep scrolling along"

Is WW making $90M over performing when it's been tracking by several publications to do just that for over the past week? If WW makes $90M the only folks claiming it over performed would be Warner brothers. It's gotten great reviews, great reception and it's presales (from those who have given us presales) all indicate at least a $90M debut, if not more. So yes their effort to low ball the film when literally every single sign out there indicates an opening way way higher than $65M is embarrassing.

I don't get why you are even making this aThing .:redcapes:
