  1. I was just gonna do it in the last minute tomorrow so now I'm looking forward to doing it in the last minute next week
  2. Basically always, so dialogue has always been the only "silent" part. The only film I've ever seen in actual complete silence was The Passion of Joan of Arc and even that was by my own choice because it just felt appropriate.
  3. Credit where it's due TF3 is one of the few movies where 3D was worth it. Don't actually remember being that much ADD editing in that one, too. The set-pieces were well-crafted and truly impressive to see in IMAX. Sharp contrast with TF2 which gave me a raging headache in just good ol' 2D before even the first of its 9 hours was over.
  4. Pratt did good in non-goofy roles in Her, Moneyball and ZDT so if the leading man career outside of franchises doesn't pan out after all he could be a reliable supporting player.
  5. And thank fuck that this is coming out in August instead of being crammed into the Nov-Dec period with about 45 other prestige Oscar hopefuls.
  6. Poulter was actually one of the more impressive parts of the trailer for me. The combination of his youthful looks and intense attitude is properly unsettling. I haven't seen him in anything he did before The Revenant but he killed it in that movie and looks on point here, dude hopefully has a bright future ahead of him.
  7. Really glad I caught this on its last day in IMAX. Dialogue is occasionally dreadful (thankfully less so as the movie goes on) but the production design is worth the price of admission alone. STUNNING. Enjoyed the way it replicates the rhythms of anime too, with carefully designed and framed shots that tend to linger just a little longer than in your typical VFX-laden action tentpole. Johannson, Asbaek and Kitano are all perfectly cast. Nice that Juliette Binoche got a little more to do than in her nothing Godzilla role.
  8. This looks like the best, or at least the most entertaining, wide release of the summer.
  9. Whoa whoa whoa this is a James Gray movie? Talk about burying the lede. I can't wait to see this.
  10. 1987 is The Dead, then Withnail & I, then Angel Heart, then everything else.
  11. Plus 2012 has A LOT of movies that are very well-liked but practically none that are as universally admired as say No Country/TWBB.
  12. Seriously this is the kind of stuff you can't even call a Hot Take it deserves its own name/category. Alien Take or Unprocessable Take or something like that.
  13. It's not part of a series but a compilation of previously released shorts, first released as a film in 2012. From what I understand it didn't qualify for the Oscars because it didn't play in LA, but it did have a "brief theatrical release" with August 2012 listed as the date. In the end, it's definitely a movie, and if it's not a 2012 movie I don't know what year it belongs to then.
  14. Recently I saw Hail Caesar, Moonlight and Knight of Cups all by myself. It was great in the case of KoC, made it feel more personal (and made me an even bigger fan of the movie than I'd been before).
