  1. I have posts on here saying 'The Flash' was looking more like internet hype than actual hype despite the trailer views etc. BUT, I'm not ready to pull the plug on it like others in this thread after 1 day of presales because I don't think 'The Flash' can be compared to Marvel movies at all. The MCU has a built in audience that's a lot easier to predict and we've seen how front-floaded they've become. GOTG Vol 3. was different because it was a throwback to the previous era of MCU that no longer exists. The DCEU isn't even a thing anymore. The WOM and nostalgia will be the deciding factor for how much the OW comes in after OD for 'The Flash'. IF the movie is as "fun" and "great" as some have said, it can score with a variety of audiences who weren't necessarily going to rush out to see it.
  2. It went above that weekend's tracking and hasn't let up since. It's okay to be wrong sometimes. The trackers were wrong.
  3. This thread is a disaster. It's way too early to say what The Flash opening is going to be. There's three weeks. A lot is going to happen in those three weeks, many screenings, maybe chances of WOM to get around. That is if it's good. The way some of you try to paint a film as a failure after day 1 of presales is alarming. You were wrong about GOTG Vol. 3's entire run.
  4. This thread is a mess because posters have agendas. They don't want The Flash to do well because it hurts their "comic book fatigue" theories or they are biased because they don't like the studio.... etc... Nobody including the people in the buzz thread have any clue if this will be a hit or not. They have no clue. It's three weeks out. The hype from here can die down, it can also increase based on early screening reactions etc...
  5. The VFX don't look any worse than any other comic movie I've seen the past few years. Aside from The Batman. I think that was mostly practical effects, that movie looks good as hell. The rest...not so much.
  6. I'm sure the market research was spot on. They just needed to phrase it differently.
  7. It's not really much different than HBO MAX. I like it better than HBO MAX though. It's easier to find stuff.
  8. Your post makes no sense. You're suggesting that the RT score will but hurt by people who hate the Ezra Miller situation and then also by people who just hate DC? Let's say that's true... that wouldn't negate the claim of "Best superhero movie" if the reviews were only bad because of reasons that have nothing to do with the movie. By the way, I don't buy your conspiracy theory claims. Maybe some people will downgrade it because of Miller but I don't think anyone has anything against DC as a whole. At least not a lot of people.
  9. Nah, it's the same as Netflix. I cancelled Netflix a few months ago because I barely watched it anymore.
  10. Max actually looks pretty good to me. It's by far the best streamer around as far as content goes.
  11. If it's true that Miller shines in this movie (which I actually expect him to because he's a really good actor) that sucks for him because this likely would have catapulted his career. Lesson to be learned here. Very similar to the Jonathan Majors stuff. He was also on the way to superstardom.
  12. I agree with you. I tried firing up AM3 on Disney+ the other day and I just couldn't get into it again. It's actually worse on rewatch. Terrible movie.
  13. We saw Fast X last night and it was a great time. A lot better than the last two. The stakes were higher and the action sequences were a little more creative than the last couple entries. It's not even close to the worst film I've seen all year.
  14. I'm not buying the $100M+ opening takes. It'd be cool if it does that well but to me, despite the higher number of trailer views and what not, the hype seems more internet driven than casual movie going audiences.
  15. what about them? They're great. They aren't pretending to be something they aren't like so many other franchises who do pretend to be some kind of high art and fail at every turn.
  16. Tom Cruise and Stephen King have more money than God and I believe Cruise primarily works with Paramount. Why the hell would either of them care about hyping up The Flash? Maybe....just MAYBE.... they saw the movie and liked it? Why is that so hard for some people to believe? This thread is garbage.
  17. 59% on RT is higher than I was expecting given the early reactions. Sounds to me like it could easily be a crowd pleaser.
  18. RT% means nothing for this. Point blank. People know full well what to expect at this point and if it delivers for overseas audiences that's all that's going to matter. I did not love the last couple of them though. I really would like this to be more like 'Fast Five' because that was a very well done action movie that was not winking at the audience. That was just a movie with cool stunts and was like "here, this is cool, watch this" without the director trolling. Obviously the very first The Fast and the Furious movie is my all time favorite but they'll never get back to that level. Too low stakes and they never have a writer that's interested in that witty type of dialogue. You think Ayer penned most of the script? It's obviously the best script of these.
  19. GOTG vol. 3 is more proof that if the movies are good people will show up. The opening weekend was a bit muted by their standards but WOM has now kicked in. And that's how it should be. Obviously there were people who were interested but didn't want to get burned again by another bad movie. Personally, I never doubted James Gunn.
  20. I don't think GOTG Vol. 3 and the excellent hold this weekend say anything about the future of the MCU. This was very much a film carved out from a different phase in Marvel where the films were more isolated and did their own thing. This was a throwback feature and James Gunn is now gone.
