  3. Think it’s quite possible Dune 2, KFP4 or Garfield does a small breakout and get to the 200m range domestically.
  4. DM4 should do 300m unless it’s like too bad for parents to bear.
  5. Yknow I got a club in May with Garfield being the biggest May 2024 film 👀
  6. Tbh think Beyond will be bigger domestically than SM4 but SM4 should be bigger worldwide. Can see them trying both same year.
  7. Sometimes walkups are stronger at night, sometimes they’re weaker at night. It happens. Charlie has the data to ticket sales but anything can happen in the night. That’s not on him or tbh any other person with ComScore data but what’s going on for the GA at night.
  8. Kind of surprised at the weak KFP4 numbers considering the trailer did very well despite it looked mediocre. 147M views day one is strong.
  9. Yeah. A Wrinkle In Time and Wish floundered when coming from an idea of hers and tbh Frozen II had story problems because she couldn’t figure out what to do with it - that’s partially why Frozen 3 is a two-parter.
  10. WOM and reviews sucked largely because the movie was mediocre and the songs sucked (also I think at this point, we can say Jennifer Lee isn’t a good storyteller). It was very mediocre. For a minute, it was on pace for a 50m five day tracking wise, then reviews gave it the first Rotten in almost twenty years putting it back on the 40m train and then audience WOM sucked outside of families plummeting to barely 30m.
  11. I don’t think Hulkling will ever show up in the MCU because both Feige and Iger are afraid to have gay leads in their projects. Surprised no Eli or Ironheart.
  12. I’m not denying Encanto’s popularity. Or saying Turning Red is on the same level. Box office isn’t the only equation to the formula. Feel like Encanto would’ve pulled strong numbers in 2022, assuming it got Strange World’s spot probably something like Moana’s five day and a total around 270m-ish like a smaller Up, but think like Moana it’d have a second wind once it hit the home media market vs theatrical.
  13. I wouldn’t say 450m but both it and Turning Red in 2022 slots, think they’d do 200m domestic with ease. Encanto maybe even closer to 250m.
  14. Think Migration should get to 100m. There’s nothing from now until KFP4. Will say this original animation had a rough year this year. Ruby Gillman gave DWA the excuse to outsource and did under 30m domestic, Wish’s domestic total is going under Coco’s five day OW, Sony Animation has nothing in the chamber and Paramount has given up on theatrical originals. Even the two hits like Elemental and Migration had drawbacks. Migration should do over the 100m mark and if kids like it I think it’ll do 120s maybe even to 150m and probably around 300-350m WW, which is small potatoes for Illumination. Though Elemental blew up on the Plus, first animated original since Coco to cross 150m, had the strongest summer animation legs since Shrek and 155/496 is respectable enough with ancillaries, it is one of the smallest Pixar movies. What we really need is a Turning Red/Encanto to see if originals are dead but it’s not a good sign.
  15. I can’t say Migration didn’t have effort. It had 4 big trailers, either attached to big events like Mario or in the selection for hits like Barbie and The Eras Tour, or just attached to Trolls 3. In addition to that it had big play on the Thanksgiving Float broadcast event on NBC. In both my Marcus theaters, Migration not only got promotion in the snack area and soda cups but posters. Disney only did two trailers for Elemental vs the customary three for an animation, hide the romance in the marketing and dropped the ball marketing until the last month when they realized tracking was poor.
