  1. I loathe to say this but maybe this may inspire the rest of the main five to invest in original stories. Let’s face it only a few of these reboots/nostalgic sequels from other studios don’t fail, maybe it’s best to invest in originals to divert yourself instead of trying to be like Disney.
  2. Sing and Despicable Me 1 are the only ones above average. Besides, Egerton singing makes things better.
  3. Those musical numbers are pretty fun, I’m about five episodes in and I love the “Sexy getting ready song”, especially as the rapper questions his life near the end.
  4. That's not the point, it's still not a good thing in general, besides a few months ago surefire things like Shazam! and Pets 2 and even US seemed much bigger. Hopefully it may persuade studios to try original content as their sequels tend to not stack up but it's never a good thing no matter how weak the competition is for a studio to control half of the market.
  5. That's kind of sad and bad in general. There's a good chance Disney/Fox can have 50% of the market, that's not something to be cheering about.
  6. I'm like the only person on this board that stans for animation especially WAG and SPA in general. No one is denying it'll be a hit and Illumination is probably still the most powerful non Disney animated studio right now but you have to admit the domestic drop is nasty.
  7. Although they may have been bigger then DWA in it's heyday, a lot more of DWA's originals had better shelf life thanks to home video and quality which allowed their sequels have decent holds, up or down. Mario and Pharrell Williams film will be big but I think Minions 2 is definitely going under $200M and Sing 2 might as well.
  8. Been saying this for months but Minions 2 is definitely next for a big drop, it screams IA5/Pets 2/LM2, and Sing 2 is also in danger. I think Illumination is better at selling originals rather than sequels as most of their films don't have good shelf life which the sequels to behave like this. Mario and whatever PW has will rebound though.
  9. Pets 2 was real good at playing dead with these numbers. Illumination should've healed with the sequel as audience are staying away. Can't think of anymore Pets puns, but it's good to see evil being defeated after winning two weeks ago.
  10. Can someone do a theater report for Can You Imagine?
  11. Friendly and civil conversation in Avatar/MCU/DCEU thread is the funniest myth on here.
  12. Pets 2: 45% of Aladdin ($3.15M) 83% of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu ($4.73M) (Note 4:00 showing was missing) 139% of How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World ($4.17M) (Note a showing was missing) 142% of The Grinch ($2.84M) Anywhere From $3M-$4M seems right Phoenix: 69% Of Aladdin ($4.83M)
  13. @cayommagazine The cast for Taika Waititi’s Hercules has been revealed: Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games, The Last Song) stars in the lead role as Hercules, the demigod of strength with a heart of gold but with the ego and self righteousness the size of Mount Olympus Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) stars as Megara, a snarky and street smart reluctant minion of Hades Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man, The Avengers, Sherlock Holmes) stars as Hades, the main antagonist and God of Death Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead, Supernatural) stars as Zeus, the king of the Gods, mighty god of thunder and Hercules’ father Paul Giamatti (Cinderella Man, Sideways) stars as Philoctes, the ornery satyr bent on training heroes for fame. Nick Kroll and John Mulaney star as Pain and Panic, Hades’ bumbling demonic henchman, Pain is boisterous and Panic is well, panicky but both are loyal worms Carrie Anne Moss (The Matrix, Memento) stars as Hera, The Queen of Gods and Hercules’ adoptive mother Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Raven-Symoné, Tiffany Haddish, Zendaya and Janelle Monae star as the Muses of Art and sort of the unreliable narrator of our story. The plot for the adaptation reads: ”Hercules (Liam Hemsworth), the rather pompous and vain god of strength, son of Zeus (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Alkmene who passed giving birth to him, has been raised on Mount Olympus by Zeus and Hera for most of his life under the belief he was a pure blood god until he devastedly learns the truth. Hades (Robert Downey Jr.), the god of the underworld has been trying to take Mount Olympus for himself tricks Hercules, the one destined to stop his plot of freeing the Titans, into going to Earth to prove himself worthy as a god. However, proving to be a trap, Hercules is poisoned and loses his vast healing factor but retains a small amount of his still very super strength. With the help of his trusty steed Pegasus, satyr trainer Phil (Paul Giamatti) and the snarky Megara (Rachel Bloom) who Hercules is attracted to, must learn to put aside his ego and find out what it means to be a true hero while facing unimaginable monsters and beasts sent by Hades.
