  1. Infinity War proved that CW didn't perform as an Avengers movie, but at EG's rate I don't even think Ultron was an Avengers movie either
  2. Can't wait for the meltdowns with Friday numbers (crumbling, under Titanic WW) and the overreaction on Saturday (3 billion locked)
  3. Or at a different price. Why do people think that a family of 4 will have no problem paying $12 per ticket instead of $8? Just like people now can re-watch any movie at anytime anywhere, but they had to wait for a GWTG re-release to do it before. There isn't any kind of way to truly measure which one of these movies are bigger than others. They're all huge movies that hold the crown until the next huge movie.
  4. I think this is just a case of unrealistic expectations. +100m like an average blockbuster is good for Pikachu, with an outside shot at +150-180m if it breaks out like some of the biggest HW movies. No reason to expect an Aquaman/Venom breakout because they weren't expected either lol.
  5. I just realized that Mon-Th WW might be above F8's OW record Just Mon-Wed would be 9th biggest OW (not sure if IW made +430m the weekend it came on China)
  6. Wouldn't 380m have been a fine number for yesterday? - Crazy how EG has a nice shot to 2x 5 day OW
  7. It's gonna be a long 1.5 years until a certain sequel is released. Isn't it?
  8. Discount Tuesdays continue to hurt huge openers. I wonder, if EG second Tuesday will also decrease considering it'll still do huge numbers (like a $160-200m opener / $140-170m without previews)
  9. Yeah, exchange rates offset the market growth. Also, market growth doesn't mean grossing more. See Star Wars in emerging markets, or Jurassic Park doing nearly a billion but "only" increasing 60% 20 years later. Or Transformers just fading. Anyway, Avatar was beyond HUGE and Endgame is too. Both can co-exist just fine, it's not like Avatar erased Titanic from existence (which was more impressive IMO)
  10. Ok so I saw Dangal back when it broke out in China and was one of my favorite movies that year. But I was browsing Netflix earlier and saw that the Baahubali movies were there and thought "why not?" Now (after watching them both back to back lmao) I wonder HOW THE HELL DID THIS GO UNNOTICED ALL OVER THE WORLD? This was some Star Wars / LOTR / Avengers level. Seriously, give that director a Hollywood blockbuster now (or give him that kind of budget and a proper WW release). It blows my mind how we don't care about foreign (aka not in English) blockbusters (South Korea's ones are also top notch) when most of the WW gross always comes from non-English speaking countries anyway. I'm glad that China has given Indian movies a bigger platform lately.
  11. I think this is it. It wasn't that bad I guess. But it doesn't feel like GoT, especially the most hyped episode.
  12. Assuming they're not "friendly" enough to do that, I think it's pretty sad how females have to "laugh it off" so it doesn't get worse. Thankfully things are changing.
  13. 1,386,679 admissions in Colombia until Saturday. It has broken every single record so far. They're expecting 2.5m first week (Wednesday, May 1st holiday)
  14. Hoping WW actuals come above F8. Would be nice to outgross the biggest non-MCU OW record's total just on the first weekend. Then again, above I2 for a Top15 WW of All Time debut would also be great. It might just settle for #17, though.
  15. You're not forced to get an iPhone. You can't bitch about supporting Disney over "poor other little studios" (lol) while there are many phone options (cheaper and some might say better) but you just want the Apple one. I think that's the whole point (I dont even know/care if the tweet was sent on an iPhone so I might be wrong)
  16. CM just under $200k less than Catching Fire (on the same day), hopefully it'll pass it with actuals. It had standard drops after that weekend and added 11m off a 4.3m weekend. $430m sounds likely for CM with $435m not completely dead.
