Loved this! I thought it was scary enough. There was definitely some disturbing imagery (and I'm not just talking about the obvious scenes either).
That said, the cast MADE this film. Sure, Hader stood out but they were all just fantastic! The scene that set the stage in this regard - and one of my favourite scenes in the whole movie - was the reunion scene at the Chinese restaurant. My audience had so much fun with that scene. Kudos again to the kid actors for their work in It obviously, but kudos also go to the adult cast for filling their shoes so well in this one.
I can see why some people preferred the first though. It was simpler and a tighter film. It was the kids vs Pennywise. In this one we start exploring some of the mythology behind Pennywise and there are certain scenes that might come across...I don't know....goofy? I didn't necessarily think so, but I've seen others kind of allude to that.
All in all it truly was an epic end to this story. I really don't think Andy Muschietti could have done much better. This was always going to be the tougher part to pull off.
