  1. Yeah I'm loving this art! Weird. Ever since the original reveal at Comic-Con, this movie has become one of my most anticipated after feeling so indifferent to it. I guess when you have a compelling cast and an actual story to tell (as opposed to shoehorning the movie as a favour to the star, or because it's overdue etc.) it makes all the difference.
  2. Finally saw the trailer and have to admit the film looks great! It's a top priority movie for the girlfriend too - plus I owe her for dragging her to It Chapter Two - so I'll definitely be going to see this. It's the easy number 1 choice that weekend over The Goldfinch.
  3. What am I missing here? Was the book really popular? Otherwise, I'm not seeing what the mass appeal is.
  4. The box office hasn't really matched the surprisingly solid reviews. Feels like maybe adults have enjoyed it more than the kids.
  5. Well this is what I was waiting for. So this is indeed HUGE in China, especially for a spin-off. After Marvel I guess, Fast & Furious reigns supreme there.
  6. Adjusted, Inglourious Basterds made $145,376,500 domestic. Looks like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will come up a bit short of that, but still a nice run regardless.
  7. Super Bowl weekend. Eek, that's not a good sign. Super Bowl weekend is right there with Labor Day weekend as THE dump weekends.
  8. Hoping for a bigger opening weekend, even if worse legs, to sort of cement the event status. I've watched the 2nd trailer over and over again. It feels like an event!
  9. Looking forward to seeing this, likely on Labor Day weekend as I'm seeing Ready or Not this weekend. I like the direction they're going with in this one, with Butler's character seemingly a fugitive.
  10. Seeing this on Sunday I think. It was between this and Angel Has Fallen for us but I think we'll see AHF next weekend when there isn't anything new anyways (besides Don't Let Go, which I doubt the local theatre is getting anyway). Should be the right choice. It looks fun and unique.
  11. So @TwoMisfits what's the verdict? Have you and the family seen it yet?
  12. This was the one out of all the new releases last weekend we went to see, and I'm glad we did! Hilarious, but also full of heart. The three kids are stars and I loved the subplot of the kind of rivalry the boys had with the teenage girls. Very entertaining! Highly recommend to see with some friends. For us guys especially it offers many moments for you and your buddies to go "Lol, remember THAT?".
  13. This isn't even playing in the only theatre near me (currently in Merritt, BC, where there's NO theatre, and the one theatre in nearby Kamloops isn't playing it). Not a big deal, as this is one I can easily catch on digital whenever it comes out, but this is still in that group of better August offerings for me personally so I would have loved to have caught it in theatres as well. Who has all seen it?
  14. Is this a movie that could have benefited from a different release date (like, say, its original late March date) or is the kind that doesn't really matter when it's released, it just stinks? $3.46M on opening weekend for a $1,440 PTA. Probably a 60% incoming, much like The Kitchen on its 2nd weekend.
  15. That's disappointing. Still looking forward to seeing this but I'm betting I missed the boat already. Especially being in a small town, theatres in and around the area aren't going to be too patient with all these boring August offerings. The top one from each weekend + H&S, Once Upon a Time and TLK will get the screens.
  16. This had the 2nd worst PTA ($804) in the top 20 last weekend after Brian Banks ($723), dropping 60.0% with no theatre losses. Yikes. As I've said many times, I sure miscalculated this one. Thought it would be a small hit this month.
  17. Did you catch this @DAJK. I know a couple people who went and saw this and they said it was actually really good. They're dog people so they may be biased....
  18. Oof, this fell 67.1% in its 2nd weekend, losing only 21% of its theatres. Likely due for another big drop this weekend, after which it could very well be yanked from theatres. It JUST passed $4M domestic yesterday (56k on Wednesday for a $4,000,201 total). Did anyone here actually see it?
