  1. Seem to be, I imagine the previous marvel tv show will stay on Netflix when the rest move (and maybe they had no choice)? Most of the brand you pointed, Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Disney Animation was pretty obviously going to not do any R-rated stuff anytime soon, lot of values in their product that make sure audience never feel unconformable for any second of the runtime even if they are watching with the grand parents and 8 year's old.
  2. after Suicide Squad opening I imagine a SH movie could open over 100m with a 0% RT score, embargo could be the sunday..... the marketing need to be good much more than critics or the movie.
  3. He does, Zombieland is one of the big success story of Sony (200m in revenues, 76m in net profits for a 25m budget movie), but I doubt if it was not a superheroe movie that people would be talking about the next Fleisher movie has very likely to be good....
  4. Except if they are coming with giant paycheck...., was Venom script that advanced when he got on board ? They were still news of new writer getting on board in October 2017, he was signed in may 2017.
  5. Also a bit curious why one think a Ruben Fleisher movie is very likely good... is last 2 feature were not.
  6. Is it not vastly the same than the books series ? A form of perfect fantasy for a large enough percentage of the audience, like lot of teenage boys like to imagine being Spider-Man so those movie appeal to them, lot of woman love to imagine meeting a billionaire and doing those things ? A bit regardless of the films qualities.
  7. I imagine will not be easy for a non Fast And Furious/Transformer year to make progress on 2017 for Hollywood title, with Pixar overperforming. Mission Impossible, Jurassic World, Pacific Rim, Potter, Marvel output, Raider featuring Daniel Wu, both Dwayne Johnson title, The Meg, Bumblebee, Alita, vs Fate of the Furious Transformer Coco Pirates Kong xXx RE Despicable me 3 Kingsman Spiderman/Thor/Guardian 2 Ape Mummy JL/WW
  8. Spider Man Homecoming is almost SK biggest opening weekend unadjusted of all time, that is really impressive (ridiculously impressive no ?).
  9. Outside Paramount and Del Toro ? Not sure (and that bring the question why the media talk about movie budget and this message board every day like if we do)
  10. It is impressive if both those rumored budget are close to the truth, but if Del Toro does not make it for guild minimum and do not pay himself for the pre-production development that would not have been true.... I doubt Bad Robot would make a franchise movie for free like that. Not looking at below the line cost when judging on screen result (if that what they have in mind) can be very misleading. Cloverfield working title name was Clean Pass and it's qualified California cost was of only 19.282m (with a 3.9m tax credit coming up), only 3 million more than a movie like Battle of the Sexes, : http://film.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/2.0-Website-Approved-Projects-List-Online-12.11.17.pdf And maybe IMDB does not have all the locations, but it seem to have been shot only there: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2548396/locations?ref_=tt_ql_dt_5 Would not surprise me if the below the line cost for both movie were not that dissimilar. P.S. Looking at that list there is a giant Paramount title planned, code called Island Plaza (100m below the line cost just in Cal.), 73 days of shoot there alone, does anyone know what that would be ?
  11. 445m is quite a lot (it is more than Wonder Woman), 110m in China, 41m in SK market pushed by Cumberbatch and the Asian setting. Dr Strange made more intl than Guardian of the Galaxy & Thor 2, almost made as much as Winter Soldier.
  12. The 2 situation are a bit different if we believe the rumore that transpired and selling international markets to finance most of a production is not that special for a studio, like selling all market minus China a la cloverfield.
  13. Is the Simpsons a cheat answer ? (Southpark being an other candidate)
  14. Looking 30 year's back kind of give you reason but I am not so sure looking at 1999 http://www.imdb.com/search/title?sort=moviemeter&title_type=tv_series&year=1987,1987 http://www.imdb.com/search/title?sort=moviemeter&title_type=tv_series&year=1999 18 year's later and watching/rewatching Freaks and Geek, Sopranos is still a thing, it could happen for some shows, specially now that they have as good quality than movies format/conversation method. Conversation about tv series tend to be a bit strange, the type of commitment they require usually make only 2 type of people, people that love the show, people that have not finish the first season, without much in between.
  15. It will certainly put a date on it (like using a particular smart phone in a movie will and that why many director do not use them) but the phenomenon is big enough that people in many market will still understand and not be too rough, a bit like if it was a very old movie using Lord of the Rings or a 2000-2001 movie using Harry Potter. As long as the reference pass time and it should...
  16. Would it not be of hurting a very powerful producing company, producer, probably would have took 35/40M and took the lost to be honest, the previous one did everything perfectly (raved reception, brilliant marketing) to make it's 110m happen.
  17. This unique distribution plan for the next Cloverfield completely jibes with the brand’s spirit of surprise. Cloverfield pics are traditionally shrouded in secrecy with non-traditional marketing campaigns. This Cloverfield sequel cost around an estimated $45M, and we hear that the Netflix deal makes the film immediately profitable. http://deadline.com/2018/02/cloverfield-sequel-god-particle-super-bowl-trailer-netflix-streaming-release-1202276386/ If they paid over 45m for the world exclusive right, easy to see why Paramount would have said yes and I imagined convinced Bad Robots to go with it, considering how well little it would probably have done with say a small/mid 60-65m P&A world release (Life last year reached 100m with a big release and bigger cast and a 67% RT score)
  18. Really depend how much they got from Netflix if it qualify as a win or not, I imagine there is a cost associated at being a studio that will not get your movie in theater.
  19. https://www.cinemablend.com/new/Shia-LaBeouf-Taken-Hospital-Botched-Movie-Stunt-72245.html http://www.indiewire.com/2014/10/shia-labeouf-cut-his-own-face-fought-the-cast-got-a-tooth-pulled-making-fury-271340/
  20. The other half being Irish catholic does not match many of the wasp letter at all, just the first one.
  21. I did some search and did not found that article posted: https://stephenfollows.com/important-international-box-office-hollywood/ Not sure how to post it exactly, but you can see the evolution of dom, intl, intl-china. By genre:
  22. Well Reeve is 53, that is only 2 year's younger than Cruise, it would be a pretty a lateral move. (Except if the vampire story is true and if is vampire power is stronger than Cruise magic power to stay young)
  23. Yeah like US didn't mind Arnold Schwarzenegger or Van Dam saving the day, when you have your own local industry turning away blockbuster all the time, staring Chinese actor getting released every month, I imagine it is not even a subject of conversation.
