  1. Must be extremely rare now a day to be the one paying the bill and making those decision at the same time. I imagine those decision are made by Disney employee that finance %0 of the budget, no ?
  2. Add Micheal Bay in there has a really big one to sway people one way or the other on a project. Many have a big enough fanbase to have a giant impact relative to the size of those movies, Woody Allen, Tyler Perry, Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Nancy Meyers and those have build a brand, those movie are extremely a certain style, Scorcese have a much harder time is movie are so different from one to the other (if you like Wolf of Wall Street that has almost no correlation to say that you will like Silence) and is less than a brand. Once you go with a much bigger movie the 20-80m that bring those type of fanbase can become more lost, specially versus a monster like a Disney branded franchise.
  3. If they didn't do it when she was a bit of an uncertain entity, bit of an hard time thinking it will work on a sequels of a 455m global openers, everything indicate the it helped the movie more than hurt it, if it does anything at all. And it is not easy for interview response to social group /ills/issues questions to be empty of them in the response.
  4. Ok people don't push too far your X so you are supposed to think Y narrative. (Obviously this is an anonymous message board and anything can happen, but I would not be surprised if hundreds of thousand of English speaking black male use SJW that way on a daily basis around the world)
  5. How weird are you if you make consensus in a giant group of over 7,000 voters, you can get in nomination in a branch with less voters at best if you are really weird. Birdman/The Favourite/The Lobster/Elle were not particularly not weird, but it is probably close to the limit. It is not so much discrimination, that if a group of voters is big, it need to get appreciated by a large % of people to get in and that almost by definition make any choice quite mainstream.
  6. It was more, CM already has any sequel plan greenlight, nothing can possibly matter by now.
  7. RT had huge drop in votes at some points, look like to me you could vote without create an account at some point.
  8. Really loved this a lot, the first scene was a bit terrible (overuse of smoke, terrible production, looked really lazy soundstage) and it got much better after that, it seem common now they know ending produce word of mouth, begining just need to be not terrible enough.
  9. This is big, 14.75m would be a bit better jump than Beauty and starting to gain good amount already on BvS. Biggest Tuesday in March Beauty: 17.878 BvS: 12.18m Hunger Games: 10.348
  10. This they are talking video evidence of Heard not having any mark in the face the day after the alleged attack. I guess how good of a make up job one can make to hide injury will become the trial central question.
  11. That pushing recent with Raiders. There is a bunch, but usually with westerner hero Jarhead Three kings Sahara God of Egypt Syriana The Kingdom Kingdom of Heaven Aladin feel quite different.
  12. Find surprisingly hard to find ? Is it about this ? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6788411/Johnny-Depps-starts-50million-lawsuit-against-ex-wife-Amber-Heards-questions-injuries.html Testimony and video evidence that would prove Depp version ?
  13. Brian Singer, Weinstein, etc... there is a list of serious controversy, didn't hurt their movies at all either.
  14. Not sure what the controversy is about, but I would have loved for Captain Marvel to have killed the notion that controversy matters.
  15. ? If I remember correctly, it did fall instead of raise during it's rebate tuesday, so must have been an holiday in a lot of place. Biggest mondays in mars BvS:: 15.04 Beauty: 13.5m Hunger Games: 10.823 Passion: 10.1m Alice: 9m
  16. Peak Tomb Raider was probably 1997 with Tomb Raider 2, first movie released 2001. Mortal Kombat in 1995 maybe ? Mortal Kombat arrive on SNES around 1994, I imagine the reason it was the biggest video game movie, without a studio, budget or being any good, the song and the timing.
  17. Was probably way more popular in the 90s than now right ?

  19. Is it because of the release date or a movie that will be more weekend days than weekdays by nature ? Looking at those 150m opener Mojo used has comparable: https://www.boxofficemojo.com/showdowns/chart/?view=daily&id=roguevhgdk.htm Captain Marvel Sunday is the biggest outside Dark Knight and they all reached 400m.
  20. Is it a bit: "Did your movie opened same weekend in China or not graph" ?.
  21. MPAA 2017 had in ticket sold 55% Caucasian, 23% Hispanic, 12% African-American, 7% Asian Wonder woman run 52% Caucasian, 22% Hispanic, 14% African-American, 9% Asian Diversity demos for Captain Marvel are broad: 47% Caucasian, 21% Hispanic, 16% African-American and 12% Asian.
  22. And you would find it less pretentious doing with on film that cost more than color film ? Has for "lazy" that is really not the case, they kept color to also be able to "cheat" a lot, it was a lot of work: Cuarón was heavily involved in the final-grade process, and worked in Hollywood with Technicolor supervising finishing artist and ASC associate member Steven J. Scott. According to Cuarón, the sessions comprised 576 hours of color correction and 397 hours of additional color support, for a total of 973 hours of sessions spread over six months. It was probably a $350k+ conversion job, one could say lazier than create set that look like what you want in B&W directly, but it is much more work than just changing your color setting in VLC. It is really hard to tell how a significantly different movie would have been received, a bit like what if Mememto would not used B&W to evoke memory...
  23. It was digital and they choose to use it in color mode to make the CGI work with the greenscreen possible. There was an article about it: https://ascmag.com/articles/roma-memories-of-mexico It was fully shot with B&W in mind production wise and what not. I am a bit confused if you thought it was not from day one purely an aesthetic choice, did you think that it was for budget / camera weight or something of the sort ? Been a while that it tend to cost more to go for B&W than color.
  24. Yes I would say until then. Has of now DCEU making billion title but not above Avengers, that the perfect truce in the war.
  25. One time I was in a theater that didn't start the good movie after the staff being told they stopped and launched the good movie, they skipped on fast forward that you could see on screen every ads/trailers except 1 or 2, 2 that were from the same distributor of the movie that was playing, they really felt not only attached but "non-fast forwardable" by the system. So I imagine that most are not but 1-2 are.
