Didn’t love Aladdin as a kid, but the live action movie doesn’t look bad to me. Maybe not having the nostalgia helps. I’m glad it might be getting okay reviews.

GOTG remains one of my favorite movies and while I don’t find the sequel to be as rewatchable, I’m excited to see what Gunn does for Vol. 3. Given another lease on life with Guardians, what characters or themes are you most excited to see through in the third film?

The title really should be Episode Fox: A New Mouse.

People keep pointing out that the show was always leading to this. And really, Dany going Mad Queen isn’t a problem. Yeah, it’s been foreshadowed and she’s made some questionable choices. It’s fine as a conclusion with better set up. But it’s like this season, the writers chose a few characters, some of whom have never even seen her do anything questionable (like Sansa and Arya) and have them repeatedly suspect Dany going mad like her father. Then they realized that wasn’t enough so they choose the quickest way to show it in a 40 min rampage. It just doesn’t feel earned. A few scenes of Dany looking paranoid and other characters making assumptions about her future rule don’t make a ‘burn everything to the ground’ moment good storytelling. Despite all that, I think the show is still solid overall based on past seasons. I had hoped Cersei died a painful death and that Sansa would win the throne. Main expectations I had were that Dany and Jon would lose/die, likely due to Dany becoming too ruthless and Jon too stupid. This season has been relatively poorly written but I can live with it since I didn’t have to wait 2 years for it. Benefit of binging the show last month lol. I do kinda wish I had just stayed a casual viewer though.

*shrug* Looks fine to me. And Beauty and the Beast (2017) was GREAT.

I laughed when the title came up. Looks ok I guess. I did watch the first movie in theaters expecting to hate it and ended up actually liking it. It’s just strange to me why they’re making a sequel at all and doing it so many years later.

Looks like most movies had slight increases from estimates. Surprised The Hustle decreased with Mother’s Day.

Jon Snow will be a big hero. He’ll be the heir that didn’t want the throne, the one who saves the Westeros by killing the tyrant queen. He’ll become known as Jon the Queenslayer lol. But seriously, this is likely where they’re going with the next episode. Either him or Arya. Don’t know if he’ll be the one on the throne, but I think they’ll have him kill Dany in a lovers to enemies moment. Besides, he’s made it clear that he doesn’t love her anymore, if he ever really did.

There’s so much wrong with this episode, but I’ll forever be annoyed at the way Cersei died. Why didn’t Dany just torch the tower she was in? Gah! I’d have preferred her to die by dragon fire than infrastructure cradled by her brother/lover. Oh well. Can’t wait for the last episode so it can all be over with. Admittedly, it was a spectacle of an episode. If The Battle of Winterfell had issues with lighting, this one made everything almost too visible. It was great to finally see what a dragon could do. And the acting was great for the most part, outside of Euron the annoying prick. So yeah, they delivered a spectacular episode, it just also happened to be ridiculous.

Obviously some prefer IW to EG, but it’s ridiculous to claim that the majority feel that way and that’s why EG’s not having better legs. I think the movie is doing amazingly well considering that it’s the culmination of 21 movies over 11 years. Didn’t even think it’d go past $2.5b even after the OW, but clearly I didn’t really have the high expectations that others did.

Is the $20m true Friday or with previews? Guess Deadline was pretty accurate.

Heigl was on Grey’s Anatomy and starting a pretty successful movie career. Then she complained about the movie, Knocked Up and didn’t feel she was getting quality material on Grey’s. Left the show and her movies weren’t doing great. Eventually she gained a reputation of being difficult to work with and her offers dried up. It was pretty sad to watch as she’s actually a talented actor. Constance is pretty good too and I like that she’s opinionated, but she’s not even at the level Heigl was (nor does she enjoy the same privilege) so this might turn out even worse for her.

Don’t see Naomi Scott trending. But Constance Wu is. And being compared to Katherine Heigl. Really hope she doesn’t end up with a similar career trajectory...

Lmao. I hope this is a joke. I actually liked this show. Watched the first 4 seasons then kinda forgot about it. Guess she hoped ABC did the same.

Did they? I recall one poster saying $55m, but it seemed like most posters were between $60-80m and others were expecting higher or some kind of surprise

Isn’t that kinda what happens on here everyday? Pikachu isn’t being spared from rampant speculation that happens with every movie with a fan base or “hype.” As long as those with differing opinions don’t get obnoxious about it, I think it’s fine to discuss the various ways it can play out.
