It’s too bad about Brightburn. I really enjoyed it. The movie combines horror and superhero (villain in this case) really well. I thought it was a well done little movie. Screw the critics!

I really liked this movie. BB was the complete opposite of Clark Kent. He reveled in his superiority. It was gorier than I thought it would be too.

Trailers did not make it look any more interesting than what you described. It looked lame. I typically try to support female centric movies, but I won’t support any movie just because simply it is female centric. It has to be worth my money. I have no interest in seeing this movie.

Will Disney miss the chance to distribute the highest grossing film for first time in their History? That's only thing missing in their tally.
Bragging rights are important. Avatar will remain Fox releases in record books, Disney has nothing to do with that.
Very true. I think all studios want bragging rights. We, as box office observers know that Avatar was a Fox property, but there are still four more Avatar movies to come. If they all do well, the brand will be unmistakably Disney’s.

Mendolson writes his articles before the box office numbers come out and doesn’t even bother to edit. It’s annoyingly!
“Marvel and Walt Disney’s Avengers: Endgame earned an additional $17.2 million (-43%) over its fifth Fri-Sun weekend frame and $22.4 million over the Fri-Mon holiday.“
”Nonetheless, Avengers: Endgame also passed the $2.7 billion mark this weekend, making it (obviously) the second movie to do so aside from Avatar. It’s still something of a coin toss as to whether Avengers: Endgame passes the $2.788 billion global cume of Avatar. Inflation means that Avatar and obviously Titanic sold a lot more tickets back in their respective days.”

Question is why would they leave it 15 short? They didn't produce Avatar, they had nothing to do with. One re-release would easily be enough.
I wish I had the answer. Playing devil’s advocate, maybe Disney wants Avatar to stay number 1 because they want to market Avatar 2 as the sequel to the biggest movie of all time. There is no incentive other than bragging rights to have Endgame number 1.
Disney has a lot for which to be pleased. They have money to burn. Aladdin did great. They have several other films coming down the pike this year with billion dollar potential. Endgame’s performance was well above their highest expectations. I don’t think they care either way whether Endgame or Avatar is number 1.

I think there is still a chance for Endgame to pass Avatar, but it is less than 50%. Maybe 25% at this point.
Best case scenario as of right now, is 50- 55 more DOM and 35-40 more OS. That leaves it about 15M shy. Can it leg out like CM did? Only time will tell. The box office can be so fluid because we don’t know how new releases will perform and what their corresponding effects will be on other movies. Now, more than ever DOM must start holding much better.

That multiple seems way too high for a Live Action remake and a Memorial Day release.
I may have severely underestimated the overseas - China numbers. It just seems that many people expect it to severely underperform.

Wow, Aladdin has a budget of ~185M. Can it make 500M world wide? Definitely seems possible. China will give about 50. If it has a 75M three day, then maybe give it like a 3.5 multiplier to 265M. That would mean 185 from the rest of the world.

Cleary he is definitely trolling. The only reaction he ever gives to any post is not cool reactions.
You’re the authority around here, so okay. Maybe he should sprinkle in some WTF and Sad reactions in addition to the not cools. That way, he won’t be just posting the same reaction all the time to voice his displeasure. 😛

Maybe I am way off base, but how is Shivampa trolling for expressing himself with reactions? Maybe he doesn’t like the numbers being posted. Sorry, but I don’t see that as trolling. If he is going to be part of this board, he will have the same privileges as everyone else, unless mods say otherwise.

Mendelson says 2.878M for Endgame on Tuesday.
Avengers: Endgame earned another $2.878 million on Tuesday, actually dropping 9% from Monday’s $3.16 million gross. To be fair, yesterday was weird in term of day-to-day holds, as John Wick: Chapter 3 only jumped 14% from Monday ($6.5 million for a $69 million five-day cume) and Pikachu jumped only 10% for a $99.5 million 16-day total. Only A Dog’s Journey got the conventional Tuesday bump (many theater chains offer discount tickets on Tuesday), rising 44% on Tuesday for a $1 million gross and a still-underwhelming $9.731 million five-day cume.

I think Endgame will be above IW’s Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday may be tough, as Aladdin opens the following day so there are previewed in the evening. However, I am reminded that someone posted a while back that Disney films in already in release all benefit when Disney opens a big movie. I don’t know if that is true, but perhaps Aladdin will help Endgame.

attack of the clones has the single greatest stand up and cheer moments I've ever witnessed at a movie theater. When Yoda first draws his lightsaber against count Dooku I thought my head was going to explode. The theater literally erupted in a cacophony of screams and hollers kind of like you are at a Nascar event with a bunch of drunken rednecks.
I love every Star Wars movie with the exception of The Last Jedi. And I'm not talking about solo and rogue one. I'm just talking about the main saga.
I agree. I thought all of the prequels were better than The Last Jedi. I love Star Wars films too. Revenge of the Sith gets a lot of flack, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.

I honestly do not see 12.5 as a bad increase. That would be a 70% increase over Friday. It could have been a little bit better, but how much better could we realistically expect?

Complaining about the Batman casting has gone back to 1989. It will never end. It doesn't matter who gets cast in a Batman movie people will complain. Robert Pattinson is a phenomenal actor and he's going to knock it out of the park as Bruce Wayne Batman. When Michael Keaton got cast in 1987 people lost their freaking minds. And believe me I remember it very well. When Heath Ledger was announced as the Joker, people were all over him and there was a petition to get him removed as well. comic book nerds make me laugh because they complain complain complain and then when the actor is brilliant in the part they change their tune and say....we knew all along he was going to be amazing. If all you know Robert Pattinson from is Twilight then you have not been paying attention to some of the choices he's made over the last few years.
Point taken. I saw him in Like Water For Elephants and nothing else, so maybe he is phenomenal and I am missing out on him. Maybe he will excel in the role, who knows? But part of the fun is the speculation. As I said, the jury is out so I will give him a chance in spite of my apprehension. I would never waste my time signing petitions to get actors removed. People take these things entirely too seriously.

Pattinson is probably too good for Batman, not the other way around, considering we just had an out of breath dad-bod Batman going through a mid-life crisis in between shots
LOL! Too good for Batman? Considering actors like Bale, Clooney and Keaton have donned the cape, I don’t think Pattinson is too good for the role. I am in the minority, but I didn’t dislike Ben Affleck’s Batman. Too bad the movies he was in were under performers. I thought he had excellent chemistry with Gal Gadot and had the films been written better and avoided the production messes, he might still be in the role. Pattinson is a teen idol. Might as well have casted Zac Ephron.

I wouldn't say Batman is in a good place necessarily. Twlight star works maybe for Batman Beyond angle otherwise seems pretty suspect.
I agree. I don’t know what WB is thinking are they casting to attract fan girls of Twilight? I don’t think Pattinson is handsome and I don’t find him hot in the least. Plus, his acting isn’t that great. The jury is definitely out on this one.

Remember the twitter account that used to be Charlie's source? Their final number is always 300-400K less than actuals so i think we can expect similar here.
Sure! What have they reported? From how many locations?

Let’s see what Disney reports for Endgame. If it’s at 7.2 now, then it could go to 7.5 or as low as 7.3 depending on how many theaters left to report and their sizes.
In any case, great opening for John Wick no matter where it ends up in the 50-60 range. Pikachu seems to have avoided disaster. The 6.1 is better than the 5.7 we were thinking yesterday.
Memorial Weekend Thread: 4-Day Actuals - Aladdin $116.81M | John Wick 3 $30.97M | Avengers Endgame $22.06M | Pokemon DP $17.25M

It’s okay. I just don’t agree that this movie is rotten. I am reacting to you with laughter because I came......this close to getting a like. 😀
