  1. I told everyone! I am not coming in here! You will regret dragging me in here! I have 5 1/2 more days of review free, spoiler free, drama free, vacation from the Internet. I’m having a lovely time in Sims 4 land. Steve is really successful as an interior decorator and painter, and Sam is a gourmet chef looking to own his own celebrity restaurant. They live with their two dogs in a penthouse apartment. And they, like me or completely unaware of whatever Drama TM is happening.
  2. MODERATION: @Goosellations Has been banned from this thread. Seriously, Do not make me come in here during the next two weeks. Please be kind to each other!!!
  3. @No Eternals Spoilers 4 Cap!!!!! This almost would get me on a cruise. Almost. But then I remember that there’s cesspools for disease and I don’t have any interest in being trapped on a boat for a week. 😂😂 but Mackie and Brie 🥺
  4. According to Bestie, The El cap Fan events are simply their first showing with some bells and whistles. So far they have not done any advance screenings. Trust me. We have been checking.
  5. okay, but cAn it be? Cause that sounds like a DOOM movie, and we deserve a good Doctor Doom flick.
  6. I saw Shang Chi in both PLF (Regal RPX) and regular screen. The difference in screen quality for the picture was remarkable. It was so much brighter and richer. I would never willing skip a PLF. Ever.
  7. I will take this. For me, it’s about the peaks and valleys. I am gonna use my two current favorite TV Shows as examples: Succession and Ted Lasso. Ted Lasso is a comedy. But if you watch season 2, it legit went into drama (both in subject matter and 40 min episodes). It never lost its Ted Lasso Je ne sais quoi, but now the material is a bit heavier cause it’s dealing with mental health issues. Secession is Drama. But it’s wickedly funny to the point of Dark Comedy. Everyone on the show is an ambitious cesspool of human being, but because of the show’s clear POV it’s able to infuse humor. Both shows are also good cases for you can have serious characters in comedies (Sharon in Ted Lasso) or funny characters in dramas (Tom, Greg, Roman in Secession) without ruining the world. Sometimes those are even the most compelling characters, because they feel out of their element. I think you need both because all of writing is basically building tension and then releasing it, regardless of the genre or medium. And Dune really doesn’t operate like this. It’s brutalist natural is a monotone as its score. I’m not asking for a dune to be some lighthearted farce. But I do think a variety in their characters would’ve gone along way to improving the overall emotional experience of the movie.
  8. Maybe time is a circle, And to get the large premium screens, the businesses will need to break up the megaplexes cause they’re going to larger and larger screens. And we’re going to go back to the single screen movie palace… 🧐🧐🧐
  9. I plan to schedule Cape Fear and New York New York for the Film Club. Probably going to be the second or third week of November.
  10. Furthermore, the excuses for why they don't cast Robin in films anymore are passe and obsolete. It was always either "child endangerment" or "homophobia." I know that sounds nuts, but those were always the big issues that came up. We can't have kid Robin, because then our hero would be "endangering a child and that's not a good look" and we can't have adult Robin, because then **pearl clutches** "people might think Batman is Gay and Wertham was right." I would agree that action is better, but this is Batman. He's supposed to be A Detective. You could get away with a detective/suspense/mystery and sprinkle in some action set pieces here and there. Like what if David Fincher directed a 1hr and 40 minute Live Action BTAS movie? But IS IT? One of the reason that Batman's been able to endure for so long is the approach to the character evolves, and frankly it really reflects the state of the times. 1930s - Pulp Action Star 1960s - Campy, But Actually "Captured" the Counterculture Youth Angle 1980s - Gothic Excessive to Reflect Reganism 1990s - Peak Consumerism 2000s - Post 9/11 Paranoia So we're basically at the point that with Batman, that after the last decade, it would makes sense for either: 1. He's the Bad Guy. He's a billionaire sociopath with serve PTSD that beats up "criminals" and "thugs" in a Latex Fursuit. Do we even need a Batman anymore? Or does the world need Bruce Wayne instead? 2. Radical 180 Absurdism to capture that Nothing Really Matters Anymore. And that after the past decade, doing a mindless silly movie would make sense because no one wants to face the realities of reality anymore. OOOOOOOOR. 3. You could Let Him Be Logan Roy!!!!! Make Him The Emotionally Fucked Up Father That Emotionally Fucked Up His Kids And now they are all jockeying to be Dad's Favorite!! Do you know how HARD I would watch BatFam/Succession. Oh, it's be so good. So good. You such a bad influence.
  11. Well thank God the Snyder universe died. I would’ve literally burned down the movie theater.
  12. aargh…. This is literally one of my berserk topics. I am always here to talk about how Batman literally doesn’t work without Robin, and the insistence of doing Year One/Two Batman for 25 Years is crippling the franchise potential. Like, really? Is it too much to ask for like a $50 million Batman movie. We are it’s just Bruce went to the circus, he watches Dick lose his family in the exact same way/very similar way that he lost his family, instinctively bonds with the boy, and they spend the rest of the movie figuring out who murdered the Grayson while also being like Shit? Did I just adopt a 12 year old? I would also argue that there is a market for this. Because as the Batman fandom has aged, they are also starting to have kids. And they’re also starting to have the what the fuck did I just get into, now I have to take care of this little thing vibes! And if you don’t want THAT Because we have to appeal to the 12-year-old boys, then just drop a straight in the middle of the story. How did Grayson is Nightwing, Jason Todd is dead/going to return as Red Hood, and Tim is Robin. That audience would get it. It’s just so stupid. It’s been almost 25 years since Batman and Robin. It’s about damn time for Dick Grayson (and his perfect ass) to show up. I would also note that James Tucker, the creator and show runner of Batman: the brave and the bold was really onto something with that show. He basically said that he worked on the Batman animated series for a decade, and was tired of broody Batman, and said let’s do something fun and campy. And I wish to God that the WB would have that foresight. Do we really need another Batman movie where he beats up guys alone in the alley? Is that really all you think this character is?
  13. I had it at 11 cause any excuse to add Bette and Joan, I will take. My mom calls them vacuum movies. Because you turn it for background noise and it sucks you in.
