  1. How they’ll handle Alia remains my biggest curiosity for this movie. I still hope they go full CG abomination like the baby from Twilight.
  2. All things considered, I’d say 2023 was an unexpectedly interesting year for the box office, despite the sheer number of big budget bombs. Sadly, 2024, is looking like a pretty barren year, but who knows? Maybe there will be some surprises.
  3. I would think the contract must be pretty flexible, given that Sony is allowed to use characters like Miles Morales, even though they were created long after they initially purchased the rights.
  4. My understanding is that they do count. Sony is only allowed to make them because of their Spider-Man contract, so why wouldn’t they? As far as I’m aware, their contract doesn’t claim that Spider-Man’s name has to be in the title for it to count.
  5. Technically, all those Spider-Man villain movies do count as Spider-Man movies per their contract, so in theory, they do still have plenty of time. You’d just think they’d want to strike while the iron is hot.
  6. I don’t know why they can’t simply push this back a week. There’s nothing wrong with the weekend after Memorial Day.
  7. They sure are dragging their feet with the next Tom Holland Spider-Man movie. I’ve already said before that I’d be perfectly fine if they don’t make another one, but I know Sony obviously wants that train to keep going, so they might want to hurry up. Tom Holland and Zendaya aren’t getting any younger. Speaking of which, apparently someone uploaded the entirety of NWH (original cut) onto YouTube a week ago, and it has yet to be taken down. That’s pretty unusual to say the least.
  8. I guess I’m one of the few people here who doesn’t have a problem with the way the movie looks from the trailer? Then again, it has been a while since I rewatched Fury Road, and I haven’t seen the trailer in theaters, so there’s that.
  9. Lex doesn’t need to be 20+ years older than Superman. They’ve been childhood friends in the comics.
  10. This sure makes it sound like 2025 is on the table, but I guess we’ll see.
  11. Too bad that wasn’t the intention, given all the reports about how the VFX artists were working on a ridiculous time crunch.
  12. For anyone who doesn’t feel like reading, the article does specify that it’s not clear if he’ll be in this movie specifically, so the people who are worried about this being overstuffed can at least keep that in mind.
  13. Yeah, I don’t know why people would argue that WB isn’t marketing this. They are. People know this is coming out. They just aren’t itching to see it.
  14. I’m not exactly sure what’s the problem here? If Part II disappoints then Messiah won’t be filmed. Simple as that.
  15. I seriously doubt the Academy chose not to give this a nod based off something Christopher Nolan said months ago. As has been pointed out, Dunkirk wasn’t nominated for visual effects either.
  16. Black Adam was set up to be the future of the DC franchise, or at least that was how The Rock advertised it. It definitely benefitted from that, which is why it remains the highest grossing DCEU film since the first Aquaman, even if it still flopped because of its ridiculous budget.
  17. Nah. They cut Darkseid from the film because they no longer planned to follow up on that storyline. They had already decided around that time that they were going to soft-reboot the film series with Flashpoint. Anyway, apparently SS 2016 is now trending at number four on Netflix. For whatever reason, there’s something about that film that managed to stick with people, despite its terrible reception. It’s almost like the Bayformers of superhero movies.
  18. I can’t even imagine how one could “ruin” Deadpool. It’s not like the movies have some complex highbrow formula that’s difficult to replicate. It’s Seth MacFarlane level humor. If the movie underperforms, that would just mean the shtick has gotten stale.
  19. I won’t deny that BvS played a part in the low OW for JL, but I’d argue the marketing didn’t do it any favors either, nor did all the messy PR that was going on at the time.
  20. This sudden aversion to director’s cuts is so weird to me. Director’s cuts have been a thing for decades. Regardless of whatever the quality may be, people should value the notion of allowing a creative’s vision to come through. Why are we acting like the soulless corporations are in the right?
