  1. I think I’ve had two or three instances from watching a Christopher Nolan movie where I’ve had trouble hearing what they’re saying. It’s not really a consistent problem for me personally.
  2. Sigh On one hand, I do enjoy how Taylor Swift’s move completely pissed off the major studios. On the other hand, I can’t say I’d like the idea that it might disrupt the remainder of the film schedule for 2023.
  3. Do you honestly mean to tell me that Barbie might have competition for biggest movie of the year, at least domestically?
  4. Not sure why Taylor Swift didn’t go with October 6th. If anything, I feel like this could potentially hurt Killers of the Flower Moon.
  5. In the case of the Ayer and Schumacher cuts, those movies were famously the victims of studio meddling. It’s not like petitions to release alternate cuts of movies didn’t exist before the Snyder Cut. That was how we got the Richard Donner cut of Superman II.
  6. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a single individual argue that ZSJL is better than the theatrical cut because it’s longer.
  7. I can’t believe how much of an impact Marty’s Marvel comments made. Criticizing Marvel back in 2019 was apparently sacrilege.
  8. Can’t say I want that either, but that’s apparently what Matt Reeves is planning, which makes it even more ridiculous that we’re concurrently getting a new DCU with yet another Batman. That’s not even getting into the Joaquin Phoenix Joker movies. They’re essentially going to be competing with themselves. It’s worth pointing out that George Miller’s Justice League film was ultimately canceled precisely because WB didn’t want to dilute the brand by having another Batman film series going on while Christian Bale’s Batman was still a thing.
  9. Christopher Nolan Cut 30 ‘Oppenheimer’ Filming Days in Order to Free Up Money for Sets, Production Designer Calls It ‘The Most Incredible Thing’
  10. I’ll be perfectly willing to admit to being wrong if Superman: Legacy is a big hit. I was wrong about Joker, after all.
  11. I personally never found Ezra Miller as annoying as a lot of other people seemed to find them, but it’s funny looking back at how much WB was apparently convinced Miller was a breakout star. They fought to keep Miller on as the Flash back when their contract was set to expire in 2019, told the CW to include them for a brief crossover with Grant Gustin, and had them play multiple characters in this movie. When all is said and done, Grant Gustin is the Flash people are more likely to remember fondly.
  12. I said a while back that DC would be better off giving up on trying to have their own equivalent to the MCU, and now I’m more convinced of that than ever. Now is seemingly the worst time to try and restart their cinematic universe. Their most successful films since 2019 have been completely disconnected from the larger DC Universe.
  13. Maybe things would’ve been at least somewhat better today if all these corporations didn’t try to compete with Netflix in the first place, or at least not the film studios that specialize in theatrical releases. We absolutely did not need a Paramount streaming service.
  14. This movie being just under two hours wouldn’t be a big deal, but less than 100 minutes? That seems too short.
  15. When exactly did it become the norm to count early access previews as part of the OW numbers? WB didn’t do that with Aquaman or Shazam!
  16. I could not for the life of me get invested in anyone in that movie. Their fates meant nothing to me.
  17. People like ViewerAnon and BSL definitely contributed to the narrative that it was going to be something special. He’s great when it comes to visuals and scale. The problem is that his movies are lacking in compelling characters. They’re cardboard cutouts, basically.
