  1. At least it doesn't seem like there's gonna be 10 cuts every five seconds in this one.
  2. I'm guessing its inconsistent mostly and thats why the CGI seems terrible in the trailers but not so bad in the final film. The start of it the also completely animated and supposedly the best part of it.
  3. Much better than the last trailer (some real action was shown this time) but the ugly yellow over almost every shot in this still makes it uglier than it should.
  4. I don't know if I really was invested in the main character until the last few minutes (Him running across the field is definitely one of the most powerful moments in a film from 2019). I just think most of the time we spend with him is filler and him crossing some seemingly easy and effortless obstacles. Even more dramatic scenes like the one with the woman and the baby didn't really reveal much other than that he is kind I guess? And the use of the one shot camera makes the whole movie feel like we are watching from an objective lens rather than us seeing from the perspective of the character himself. I find it hard to care for a character if the movie doesn't do a very good job at making me empathise with them (Dunkirk was masterful at putting the audience in the perspective of the characters).
  5. Yeah, I think I overpredicted Jojo's chance of winning BP considering that it won't win anything else in the Oscars (maybe it surprise wins Screenplay). I guess its a five way between 1917, OUATIH, The Irishman, Parasite, and Joker right now. Hopefully next week's wins give a clearer picture.
  6. If anything destroys the MCU it won't be Marvel fatigue but Sony leeching off the MCU with these terrible movies.
  7. We were talking about a correlation between an editing nod and a Best Picture win. If you were going on about correlation between Editing win and Best Picture win, that's your problem.
  8. Lol, why did Marvel decide to let Sony connect such a terrible looking movie to the universe?
  9. @CoolioD1 literally showed the correlation a few comments before you posted this lol
  10. I meant in terms of likely to win. Personal ranking would be this: 1. Parasite 10/10 2. The Irishman 9/10 3. Marriage Story 9/10 4. OUATIH 8/10 5. 1917 6/10 6. Joker 6/10 7. Ford v Ferrari 5/10 8. Jojo Rabbit 4/10 Haven't seen Little Women but it will likely beat Parasite for my favourite nominee or it will be my 2nd fav.
  11. I don't know about that. I can see it winning BP honestly. Acting nom+surprise editing nom helps it quite a bit imo. Its missing Director nom but a DGA director nom is way more important for a Best Picture win which he got.
  12. Ranking: 1917 Jojo Rabbit (probably a bit of the hot take and it's actually the worst nominee here imo but I think editing nom and Scar Jo nom helps it) OUATIH (no editing nom even though it didn't use the one-shot gimmick hurts it) Parasite The Irishman Joker Marriage Story Little Women FvF
  13. Haven't seen Little Women yet so can't comment on it but Heller should've been a nominee. She made what seems like a pretty generic script with a bland story an incredibly meditiative experience. Hard to find a director who can do something like that.
  14. Yeah, I agree. Only film in there that for me is as bad a Bohemian Rhapsody is Jojo Rabbit but the way Joker has been playing in the Oscar race has been mostly similar to Bohemian Rhapsody and they have some obvious parallels.
  15. I don't know. It's a maybe. I recently rewatched the talk show scene and he's hilarious in it (in a bad way). If the whole movie is like that upon rewatch then it's a no from me. For me, the ideal list would be: Banderas, Driver, De Niro, Pitt (for Ad Astra), and Sandler. I just remembered though. It does deserve a Score nom too.
  16. Oh I thought you meant lowest rated for a film with Best Picture nom. Yeah, I guess Joker would be the first.
  17. No Jessie Buckley in there though. The least I wanted was a live performance from her during the Oscars.
