  1. Not really much of a surprise. Taika getting a DGA nom pretty much removed him from the conversation and the Gerwig backlash started too late.
  2. Ok, biggest surprise for me is no OUATIH for Editing. Hurts it quite a bit imo. 1917 could be the frontrunner for Best Picture now with that screenplay nom.
  3. 4/5 for Production Design (had Jojo Rabbit as my alt too) 4/5 for Editing (Jojo was my alt) 4/5 for Cinematography 4/5 for VFX (Skywalker was my alt) 3/5 for Makeup (OUATIH was also my alt) 4/5 for Animated 4/5 for Original Screenplay 5/5 for Adapted Screenplay 4/5 for Actor (Jonathan Pryce was my alt) 4/5 for Actress 5/5 for Director 8/9 for Picture (FvF was also my alt)
  4. Lol, of course Glasgow got snubbed for some crap song from some crappy religious film.
  5. So I got: 4/5 for Supp. Actress 4/5 for Sound Mixing 4/5 for Sound editing (also had Skywalker as an alternative) 3/5 for Costumer (also had The Irishman as an alternative) 4/5 for Supp. Actor (also had Anthony Hopkins as an atlernative) 4/5 for Score (also had Marriage Story as an altenative, but fuck I shouldn't have swapped it with Jojo last minute)
  6. No Song Kang ho either and another all-white acting nominees group. Lol, totally no bias here.
  7. J.Lo really deserved a nom here. As much as I loved Johannson in Jojo, would have rather had J.lo nom over a second nom for Johannson.
  8. Read some letterboxd reviews of this and it actually doesn't sound so bad. Sounds pretty generic but maybe reviews won't be as bad as expected? Seems like the budget was actually well spent because the production design, the costumes, and most of the CGI is actually really good. Pretty dumb that Universal is dumping this movie when this could just be harmless fun instead of a Cats like disaster. Also Nanjiani doesn't say "no one told me there would be a dragon" in the film lol.
  9. LMAO, don't go around putting the masterful suspiria remake (that's better than the original) in the same sentence as the Black Christmas remake.
  10. Yeah, in a perfect world Knives Out wouldn't just be nominated for everything but win it all too. But I do think Knives Out can get a BP nom here if they go with 9 nominees this year. Original Screenplay nom (which I think is likely) would really help it. I'm guessing it being a breakout hit also helps it.
  11. Honestly, all I personally care about is Knives Out getting a Best Picture and Screenplay nom, Booksmart getting Screenplay nom, Lopez and Robbie getting a Supp. Actress nom, and Glasgow getting an Original Song nom. Other than that, don't really care about any of the other films (Parasite and The Irishman are already getting a lot of love, I love OUATIH and Marriage Story but don't care about their Oscar prospects, Jojo Rabbit sucks, 1917 and Joker are meh, and I still haven't seen Little Women) .
  12. Lmao, this is the dumbest crap I've ever heard. Of course people would have complained about the lack of original movies if Knives Out was an adaptation of a book and therefore not an original movie.
  13. Lol, I completely misread your original post. I guess those still count as my nominations for those categories but I still have a few films I want to watch and will probably insert there (and include nominations for those shortlisted categories) by the deadline.
  14. That scene and the last 10 minutes were probably my favourite scenes in the movie and imo the two scenes that actually make the movie worth watching. The rest is meh.
  15. My biggest problem of the film really is that it does what other films have done but worse. The race against the clock element of Dunkirk (I think this movie even features a ticking clock sound), the unecessary one-shot gimmick (I didn't find the use of it particularly great until the last 10 minutes), the scene with the woman (who of course had a child with her), the shallow and purposeless anti-war stuff all lack any sort of originality. It feels like Sam Mendes wrote an AI to make the perfect war movie. It all works well because of the execution but I think Mendes has no voice here.
  16. @The Panda My shortlist was usable right? Wasn't sure if it was the format you wanted.

One thing I will say though is that I hope Glasgow gets an original song nom.
  18. Seems like there were press screenings yesterday. Had a film critic for a metacritic/RT publication mark it as watched on letterboxd.
  19. Yeah, it pretty much is the Boyhood of the year. I would say about 4-5 months ago, it would have been frontrunner for Picture, Actor, Actress, and Original Screenplay along with Supp. Actress. Now, it's only a frontrunner for Supp. Actress.
