  1. Two fresh Will Smith movies on RT in a row after almost a decade of rotten movies.
  2. A lot better than I expected. I think it should have a really good opening weekend. With two breakouts this Jan, I think this year is off to a better start than last year. I think we should see more smaller breakout films throught the year compared to last year (where most of the breakout hits released in the second half of the year)
  3. There were screener copies on the internet of films like Moonlight and A Star is Born before their post Oscar nomination rereleases but they still got pretty decent boosts. I think Parasite could have gotten the same kind of exposure if the digital release was after the actual awards where the film would have been prominently featured and will 100% win at least one award. I think doing just a theatrical rerelease right now would have let them make quite a bit more money here. I don't think a rerelease on the same week as the digital release is going to help the movie much.
  4. It's not uncommon of studios to do this. In fact, I think a mistake. Parasite and Joker (also getting a Blu-ray/DVD release this month) should have done the home video release a few weeks after their rereleases. Probably won't affect Joker much (because it's already burnt through a lot of demand) but Parasite could have benefited if they did the home video release later.
  5. You forgot the most important Academy award winner ever, Suicide Squad. Mad Max Fury Road (not a major franchise but still a franchise movie) also won a crapton of Oscars.
  6. You mean the opposite of what they like? Joker isn't the kind of film that the Academy would vote for. It's too controversial and dark. I mean, if you go back to 2014, Gone Girl and Nightcrawler were two dark and violent movies that the academy almost completely rejected eventhough they had a lot of awards buzz going for them (the former was even a hit) mostly because of their tone. The only reason Joker got a nom is because it made a billion dollars.
  7. At least it doesn't seem like there's gonna be 10 cuts every five seconds in this one.
  8. I'm guessing its inconsistent mostly and thats why the CGI seems terrible in the trailers but not so bad in the final film. The start of it the also completely animated and supposedly the best part of it.
  9. Much better than the last trailer (some real action was shown this time) but the ugly yellow over almost every shot in this still makes it uglier than it should.
  10. I don't know if I really was invested in the main character until the last few minutes (Him running across the field is definitely one of the most powerful moments in a film from 2019). I just think most of the time we spend with him is filler and him crossing some seemingly easy and effortless obstacles. Even more dramatic scenes like the one with the woman and the baby didn't really reveal much other than that he is kind I guess? And the use of the one shot camera makes the whole movie feel like we are watching from an objective lens rather than us seeing from the perspective of the character himself. I find it hard to care for a character if the movie doesn't do a very good job at making me empathise with them (Dunkirk was masterful at putting the audience in the perspective of the characters).
  11. Yeah, I think I overpredicted Jojo's chance of winning BP considering that it won't win anything else in the Oscars (maybe it surprise wins Screenplay). I guess its a five way between 1917, OUATIH, The Irishman, Parasite, and Joker right now. Hopefully next week's wins give a clearer picture.
  12. If anything destroys the MCU it won't be Marvel fatigue but Sony leeching off the MCU with these terrible movies.
  13. We were talking about a correlation between an editing nod and a Best Picture win. If you were going on about correlation between Editing win and Best Picture win, that's your problem.
  14. Lol, why did Marvel decide to let Sony connect such a terrible looking movie to the universe?
  15. @CoolioD1 literally showed the correlation a few comments before you posted this lol
