OPPENHEIMER | 630.6M overseas | 960.4M worldwide

Vietnamese box office works more like Chinese box office. Very short legs. With that opening, I'll be surprised with $3M total. -

Dropped 10% in Vietnam this weekend ($7.2M so far). Likely to pass AEG as highest grossing foreign film ($12M), 2nd all-time. Final gross forecast: $14M. WOM and social media discussion are going strong. Characters are well liked. -

A2 will do at least $10M+ in Vietnam alone (already at $5M 8 days in), entering Top 3 All-time, possibily challenging Endgame ($12M) for 2nd spot. All-time record of $18M by a local movie is out of reach though. Very impressive. -
So far, I can confirm that TWOW does indeed: 1. draw out a lot of people that has not gone to the theaters for a while and 2. generate repeat viewings in premium screens unlike anything I've seen recently, could be all the way back to Endgame. Among my social circle, quite a few of my friends who rarely goes to the movies went, some of them already went twice and planning on a third show. And the general consensus is that no matter where you sit in an IMAX auditorium, you'll get a pretty good experience with 3D, something that would be outright terrible in 2D (say second row seats stuff). Very positive signs I'd say, and honestly, I doubt you can do much better than this in this day and age.

You don't really need to add marketing to calculate break even point. Usually, as I've seen from the yearly Deadline's Profit Tournament, extra costs are often covered by post-theatrical revenues. So, it's mostly just what goes back to the studios minus production budget and that's it. So taking the middle ground of your estimate, $6B (assuming 30/70 split) translates to about $2.5B coming back to the studios, minus $1B of production cost, netting a total profit of $1.5B.

One thing I've heard recently from some moviegoers in my country is that: front row + 2D is terrible while front row + 3D is much more tolerable. I probably won't try it out myself but that's quite interesting. Maybe the 3D effect somehow makes correction adjustment to the distorted angle (to certain degree)?

Reception is unanimously through the roof in Vietnam. People say that the 3 hour runtime flies by and WOM is already spreading. I'm doing my job to tell all my friends to go.

The Weeknd's song is fire. Rarely do I see a credit pop song that still retains cultural element from the score like this one, in a way reminding me of All The Stars from BP1. Usually these are just clean pop songs. The chanting melody in this won't leave my head any time soon.

Y'all this is the greatest shit I've ever spent any 3 hours of my life on (maybe on par with Endgame). I'm too flabbergasted to put anything else in to words right now. Yet I'm sure of one thing, it'll be so much better on the second watch where all expectations has subsided and I can just be on that fucking ride again because it is insaneeeeee. And it's so emotional too, I teared up in several moments I didn't expect to 🥺 However I don't know if this will have the same impact on lesser quality screens. But on the right one it should blow everyone's mind.

Wait will every 3D showing be in HFR? Or is that like a special format that requires different equipment.

Now if this movie doesn't do that, like unable to, then I have no idea what can. It's like everything that could possibly be done at this point is already done. I doubt a more best-story-of-all-time can change anything.
