  1. Except that TLK will do more if not less being Europe heavy and will be getting that sweet 3D money in those Western markets. FF7 well agreed it is pretty much Asia and LATAM franchise. Sure Asia and LATAM did increase, no one's denying that but then there's the decrease in the developed markets and the shortening of box office due to digitisation of content. To be fair, first Hobbit in 2012 did more and, Hobbit being Europe heavy will again get benefit of Euro being $1.42 of instead of $1.21 in 2014 Dec or $1.31 in 2012 Dec.
  2. Yes Global box office has grown, but that doesn't mean Hollywood box office has grown. China local films are now doing $6B a year compared to less than $0.5B 10 years ago. India had terrible 2009, and has gained $1B for local films, Hollywood round about same. Besides, its MCU and Disney that has grown, rest of Hollywood is round about same. and let's pretend box office is zero sum game, if I dont get to see MCU film this year, I will go see a Peter Rabbit 2 opening in May.
  3. I don't have any problem with adding re-releases. If a film is able to add box office numbers years after their release, that should be added to gross. Simple. The genuine issue that impact the worldwide numbers over the years is the exchange rate fluctuation. In fact don't go far, Endgame release with current day exchange rates will be doing as follow with what it have now in bracket. China - $659M ($630M) +$29M Germany, France, Spain, Italy - $208M ($193M) +$15M UK - $124M ($115M) +$9M Total - $991M ($938M) +$53M Same for Avatar. China - $215M ($205M) +10M G, F, S & I - $457M ($544M) -$87M UK - $130M ($151M) -$21M Total - $802M ($900M) - $98M I have taken these countries, because they didn't had any sort of inflation which many object is cancelled out by Exchange rates. On the contrary, EG ATP was less than Avatar in all except Germany. The group which has almost same numbers in the gross i.e. ~$900M, but one is close to $1B at today's rate while other is $800M. This just based on exchange rates.
  4. $1.7M Approx Friday. $26.5M total. 2nd weekend will be $11.5-12M / $36M total by Sunday.
  5. How can weekend be $13-15M if Sat is $9M? PS. Maoyan Projection don't matter.
  6. Tomorrow will be Avatar's highest single day in China. In original release, the opening day was around $6.8M, grossing $33.6M in next 6 days. In next 7 days another $34.4M, ending its allowed run but was given extension to run in 3D and IMAX. Avatar week wise Data (Week here means Monday-Sunday) Previews - $2.9M Week 1 - $40.4M Week 2 - $34.4M Week 3 - $28.9M Week 4 - $23.4M Week 5 - $17.2M Week 6 - $12M (Chinese New Year Week, another life to film. Probably only Hollywood film to play in CNY as I can recall) Week 7 - $14.7M Week 8 - $8.4M Week 9 - $5.3M Week 10 - $5.1M Week 11 - $2.9M Week 12 - $1.4M Did another $2.1M after Week 12.
  7. PS for tomorrow suggest big growth. With normal PSm growth ¥50M is certain, may be even ¥60M.
  8. In that case 6.75 is probably too good to be true. Expecting $1.2M Friday, $2.4M Saturday and $1.5M Sunday.
  9. Pretty normal trend through the day unlike other recent re-releases. ¥20M OD I guess. PS for tomorrow are good. Should go for ¥35-40M easily. Weekend ¥85-95M ($13-15M)
  10. Yeah South India is fully back. Expecting big numbers in South India for Kong vs Godzilla, par Jurassic World films.
  11. That $6.7M seems really high but guess LA opening will boost the numbers. Was expecting $5M ish.
  12. From early looks of it, seems like 17-19M OD, but numbers are small enough that they can change fast.
  13. My reason for being Team Kong is simple. Liked Skull Island while KoTM was trash. Can't believe tinsy bitsy excited to watch it. Quite similar to what was during BvS. Superman's world strong than B but since B has been in better films, had more support in my circle.
  14. Last 2 movies didn't do well in India but good buzz this time. Piracy will hurt though. . Opening days of Monster verse. Godzilla - ₹5.9cr ($990k) Kong Skull - ₹3.8cr ($594k) Godzilla: KoTM - ₹2.7cr ($380k) (Thursday release) Expecting GvK to open ₹7cr ($950k).

  16. Wonder if Feige will make the congratulatory poster. In past there are many posters between Lucas and Spielberg, with SW & ET shuffling the Domestic record.
