  1. I only learned about them happening a day or two ago, so perhaps. It was surely more a decision made by the theaters than Universal, I don't think the latter expected these midnight shows to be a significant thing for something that leans more toward families. Not every theater will participate. As mentioned by others, it will likely be theaters in major markets and college towns that will be doing this, as it could be challenging to get staffing together for hours that late at locations that are more rural than urban/suburban. Additionally, some theaters could still be on the fence on if it's worth running or not. If presales look good, it's possible more midnight shows show up.
  2. Like FFH, it's because there's no Tuesday preview options otherwise. I suppose the short length of the movie is making some theaters more willing to supply this option.
  3. I don't think any of these look like heavy hitters. Meg 2 will drop notably from the last, TMNT will maybe do alright I suppose, and I'm not really feeling Gran Turismo. I don't think it's much of a problem for them to open where they are now, moving wouldn't really change most of their prospects.
  4. It actually already came and went in the US! Had a release in about 200-something theaters starting on Feb 24, WB didn't report any box office numbers for it though.
  5. This was very likely a rushed, last-minute deal. Deadline reported a while back that STX (or Miramax?) was shopping the movie around to streamers. Apparently none of them bought it, either because they didn't like it enough or they weren't willing to pay whatever the asking price was. Lionsgate is probably not losing much on this. I would bet they were paid a distribution fee and an agreement was made to get it out in theaters ASAP due to the movie already coming out overseas (and likely hitting VOD/streaming over there soon, as it will here). Presumably, any marketing costs on LG's part were either miniscule based on the clearly subdued campaign or covered entirely by the fee.
  6. Don’t mean to be that guy, but March 2017 actually had five $40m+ openers: Logan, Kong: Skull Island, Beauty and the Beast, Power Rangers, and The Boss Baby. To match it, Creed 3, Scream 6, Shazam 2, JW4, and D&D would all have to open with $40m+, which seems tough for some of those.
  7. To be fair though, Creed 1&2's openings were mid-week Thanksgiving openers. Although, 3 might go beyond what those would've been regardless. Admissions might be down from where 2 would've been at with a normal weekend, would someone be willing to run the math on that?
  8. No confirmation it's Dolby-only though. Could be full wide like the Empire 40th re-release in Sep 2020. Or maybe it is PLF-specific like Rogue One. We'll see.
  9. If there's Star Wars fans in here, you may be happy about what might be coming on April 28...
  10. A source of mine said the ingested file's runtime for the Mystery Movie lines up with Champions almost exactly. He seems pretty certain that's what the movie is. Unlike previous Mystery Movies, no codename was given for this one, so it'll be a little harder to pinpoint these exactly from now on. I'm assuming @Eric Bear and @ringedmortality might be interested in this information as well since they've asked about these in the past.
  11. Think Jesus Revolution has a very good shot at getting an A+ CinemaScore. Verified RT audience score still sitting at 100% after 250+ ratings.
  12. Tickets for A Thousand and One went on sale today, coincides with Focus’ trailer launch. Won the Grand Jury prize at Sundance, where I saw it. Very much deserved, highly recommend checking it out when it opens. Additionally, Sony’s comedy The Machine has a live event scheduled for the Thursday night before release (May 25). Tickets for that are also now on sale.
  13. To be fair to Wick 4, if the runtime is as long as reports suggest, 3pm previews will, for once, make slight sense. That might also be the earliest Thurs preview night Lionsgate has done? They’re not even starting that early for Jesus Revolution. (Although, regarding preview nights any day of the week, I think the Xmas Eve preview shows of American Underdog started quite early, if my memory serves me right)
  14. 65 and John Wick 4 tix seem like they’ll be on sale March 1.
  15. Think it was just EA, but not 100% certain. If sales are still strong through the weekend, that’s a good sign. Just didn’t want anyone thinking it was going too high based solely on how the EA is doing.
  16. Regarding Jesus Revolution, it should be noted that Lionsgate was giving out a lot of free tickets for those Early Access shows, which is possibly why they're as packed as they are. They might not be as indicative of how the movie will play out over the weekend, or what audience interest in general might be in the title, as they might seem (although I'm sure the following weekend showtimes prove that already).
  17. Correct. To think that the Infinity Saga only had one B range CS, meanwhile this saga already has four. 😣
