  1. Polite Society on sale Thursday, The Covenant on sale Friday.
  2. I really don't want this to start an argument, so this will probably be the last I engage in this discussion: Sonic 2 did not start in the 50's. It started in the 60's, dipped to the high 50's, then rose back up to the 60's after a large influx of U.S. reviews came in late (reminder that the movie opened a week early in the U.K.). Sonic 2 also had less reviews when it was in the 50's than Mario does right now, I believe. Mario could still bump back up fresh, but it will be harder than it was for Sonic 2 to jump back up there.
  3. Should also be noted that Sonic's MC scores have had time to stabilize. Mario's MC score started at 52 and has been dropping, so maybe not yet time to compare them.
  4. Oh, I'm not disagreeing with that, and most people are doing as you're saying. I'm mostly talking about some discourse I'm seeing involving poking holes in critics' reviews to make it seem like they don't know what they're talking about as a means to discredit them. It's just something I see a lot when negative reviews come out for hotly-anticipated movies. It's reminding me of the reaction to reviews for multiple 2016 films.
  5. I think people are correct that this won't impact the box office too much, especially opening weekend. But I also think that the reviews shouldn't be nitpicked or implied that they're meaningless. I see that excuse every time when a new movie from a popular franchise with a big fanbase gets slapped with a rotten, whether it's WarCraft, BvS, Ant-Man 3 (yes, people were quick to defend this on OW too), etc. It's very possible that maybe the movie just... isn't very good for some people? I don't really like downplaying the opinions of film critics because they didn't say what you wanted them to.
  6. Early access for Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret goes on sale April 5. Unsure if general sales start the same day or not.
  7. The fellow I usually get this info from was less sure on the runtime info, so I did my best to emphasize that it wasn't certain, heh. There's conflicting information around it now, so it could actually be 149 after all. Although your proposal makes sense, as would rounding to the nearest half-hour (which would still be 2.5). More than likely, it'll be something in between. Maybe 150-something.
  8. While I’m sure his lawyer isn’t lying about a video existing, they could very well be over-exaggerating what that video will do. There’s been plenty of instances of lawyers hyping up their evidence as “this will completely exonerate my client” material, and then when that evidence is presented, it’s anything but. They’re trying to turn the media back to the client’s favor. Maybe the video will prove without a doubt he’s innocent, or maybe it won’t. I sure wouldn’t take the lawyer’s word for it sight unseen though. As for the alleged victim recanting, victims of domestic violence frequently recant their statements out of fear of retaliation from their partner, so I wouldn’t put too much into that either. Again, let’s wait and see.
  9. While it would be great for Majors if this is the case… were y’all expecting his defense lawyer to say something else? Of course they’re going to make it sound like he’s inarguably innocent. Might want to wait for that evidence to actually surface and for all of this to play out first.
  10. Theatrical is probably a mandatory part of the deal they made acquiring it out of Sundance, so Hulu's not seeming like an option. The latter seems like the probable alternative, although maybe they'll just keep it where it is and drop it quick like they did with Empire of Light.
  11. Everyone's talking about how Marvel is screwed, and they certainly are, but (Disney-owned) Searchlight is also super-screwed. They just dated Magazine Dreams, a movie they likely paid a ton of money for, assuming it was at least a Best Actor lock. Having seen the movie, it's.... gonna be a hard one to sell to the public now. Not going to spoil anything, but there are scenes in the movie that will be hard for audiences to watch after what has potentially unfolded in reality.
  12. A follow-up on this: Thursday preview showtimes start at 3pm. There are some sites reporting the runtime of the movie is 2hr29m, but a pal of mine says it might actually be closer to 2hr42m.
  13. Would depend on if we're talking about strictly comic book adaptation superhero movies, or superhero movies in general. The latter would get tricky determining what counts and what doesn't. But if we're talking the former, I think The Spirit is another one.
  14. I'm not sure if it's already been mentioned here, but unfollow Deadline and Variety on social media if you're avoiding John Wick 4 spoilers. I haven't seen the movie yet myself, but I've been told they apparently are already spoiling the movie in headlines, which is especially bold given that about 95% or so of the people who plan to see this in theaters haven't done so yet. EDIT: One of them may have re-titled one of the tweets/articles. Still, even the re-wording is kinda spoiler-y.
  15. A 1 month-to-PVOD window isn't all that unusual. Black Adam had the same window, as did Jurassic World: Dominion and Minions: The Rise of Gru, while Creed III will also arrive on PVOD around the same timeframe. It's the deal that Uni put in place that WB and MGM also now follow. Last that was reported, it's <$50m = 17 days, >$50m = 30 days. So, actually, WB might be giving this a longer window than required. I'm surprised it's not dropping on April 4, to be honest.
  16. I'm late to posting these, as I was busy this morning and afternoon. Anyway, my guy is saying: A Good Person tix March 17 Air tix March 24 Pope's Exorcist tix March 29
