For those wondering, the PDD movie is now going to debut only on Peacock on Nov 17.

Maybe scrap the Strays stuff I mentioned a few days ago. Movie just moved to August. Guessing the early access event will be cancelled or delayed. Tix may still go up on the date since Uni’s been OK with super-early ticketing in the past, but I would expect that sale date to be cancelled too.

If Lionsgate keeps the title, a theatrical release increases the value of said movie for licensing, even if it flops. With how much streamers are cutting down their spending, it was unlikely that any of them would buy the movie outright from Lionsgate, or they wouldn't offer enough to make it worthwhile. Additionally, Lionsgate doesn't have a streaming service of their own that's on the level of their competitors, and from what I've read, they frequently pre-sell foreign distribution rights to their titles to offset production costs. For a $30m production from them, I think it was still worth a shot sending it to theaters.

There's lots of packed seating charts for it. Seems like a missed opportunity not to put this out wider than a few hundred theaters. It should at least have a very good PTA.

Mid-September would be a good spot for it. Although, with Sony's track record, they usually sell movies to streamers when they go radio silent on a new release date for this long (Man from Toronto, Hotel Transylvania 4, Fatherhood, etc.). Anyone know what happened to True Haunting? Another Sony title that's vanished.

I had another source telling me this might happen, but I thought I would stick with the original posted time since that seemed more normal for Disney. Oops.

Don’t family titles normally score lower on these polls? Have to imagine that most of the Fandango user base consists of adults. Kids certainly aren’t buying the tickets! That being said, I’ve had Elemental as a miss for a while. Just looks too plain.

It's estimated at $5m. The-Numbers has it, BOM is being their usual selves and not including it for some reason.
