  1. Margaret general tix went on sale today. Also, preview night shows for the Return of the Jedi re-release are at midnight. Feels like the preview nights of the 2000’s and earlier have returned in a weird way.
  2. I actually think January wouldn't have been bad for it, now that I think about it. Could've opened over MLK weekend like other action-comedies have done (Ride Along, Bad Boys for Life, etc.), then would've had multiple weekends with next-to-no competition. I suppose Avatar 2 was still making money at the time, but there was room for other movies in the marketplace, especially for those who had already seen it and/or Puss in Boots 2 over the holidays.
  3. I guess I meant switching the dates they went with rather than the dates they originally had. D&D should've been the 10th, Scream should've stayed put on the 31st.
  4. I feel D&D and Scream 6 should've swapped release dates. Think D&D would've had more room, and Scream 6 wouldn't have been hurt as much by Mario being R-rated counter-programming in week 2. Perhaps Paramount thought Shazam 2 was more of a concern than it ended up being.
  5. Get ready: Book Club 2 tix on sale this Wednesday, April 12.
  6. If you had said superhero movies instead of comic book movies that would count! 😏 Although that's all just semantics, I suppose. Ah well, just me being silly.
  7. I was thinking of things that fit all three of Shawn's criteria, so BH6 wouldn't fit as it isn't Pixar!
  8. Now if only we got a Disney-Pixar comic book movie in the 2010's... Before anyone asks, Incredibles 2 ain't based on a comic book!
  9. If His Only Son starts to show better holds over these couple weekdays (and the coming weekend), you might be able to thank the free ticket program the distributor is using to hand out freebies to just about anyone who asks for them, think it launched just recently. I wouldn't recommend the movie even for free though, to be honest. It's crazy boring.
  10. May need to wait to look at the verified RT audience score until after more screenings have completed. Midnight screening audience is going to skew crazy positive since it will be primarily hardcore Mario fans going out that late (early?), still expecting A/A- regardless.
  11. Polite Society on sale Thursday, The Covenant on sale Friday.
  12. I really don't want this to start an argument, so this will probably be the last I engage in this discussion: Sonic 2 did not start in the 50's. It started in the 60's, dipped to the high 50's, then rose back up to the 60's after a large influx of U.S. reviews came in late (reminder that the movie opened a week early in the U.K.). Sonic 2 also had less reviews when it was in the 50's than Mario does right now, I believe. Mario could still bump back up fresh, but it will be harder than it was for Sonic 2 to jump back up there.
  13. Should also be noted that Sonic's MC scores have had time to stabilize. Mario's MC score started at 52 and has been dropping, so maybe not yet time to compare them.
  14. Oh, I'm not disagreeing with that, and most people are doing as you're saying. I'm mostly talking about some discourse I'm seeing involving poking holes in critics' reviews to make it seem like they don't know what they're talking about as a means to discredit them. It's just something I see a lot when negative reviews come out for hotly-anticipated movies. It's reminding me of the reaction to reviews for multiple 2016 films.
  15. I think people are correct that this won't impact the box office too much, especially opening weekend. But I also think that the reviews shouldn't be nitpicked or implied that they're meaningless. I see that excuse every time when a new movie from a popular franchise with a big fanbase gets slapped with a rotten, whether it's WarCraft, BvS, Ant-Man 3 (yes, people were quick to defend this on OW too), etc. It's very possible that maybe the movie just... isn't very good for some people? I don't really like downplaying the opinions of film critics because they didn't say what you wanted them to.
  16. Early access for Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret goes on sale April 5. Unsure if general sales start the same day or not.
  17. The fellow I usually get this info from was less sure on the runtime info, so I did my best to emphasize that it wasn't certain, heh. There's conflicting information around it now, so it could actually be 149 after all. Although your proposal makes sense, as would rounding to the nearest half-hour (which would still be 2.5). More than likely, it'll be something in between. Maybe 150-something.
  18. While I’m sure his lawyer isn’t lying about a video existing, they could very well be over-exaggerating what that video will do. There’s been plenty of instances of lawyers hyping up their evidence as “this will completely exonerate my client” material, and then when that evidence is presented, it’s anything but. They’re trying to turn the media back to the client’s favor. Maybe the video will prove without a doubt he’s innocent, or maybe it won’t. I sure wouldn’t take the lawyer’s word for it sight unseen though. As for the alleged victim recanting, victims of domestic violence frequently recant their statements out of fear of retaliation from their partner, so I wouldn’t put too much into that either. Again, let’s wait and see.
  19. While it would be great for Majors if this is the case… were y’all expecting his defense lawyer to say something else? Of course they’re going to make it sound like he’s inarguably innocent. Might want to wait for that evidence to actually surface and for all of this to play out first.
  20. Theatrical is probably a mandatory part of the deal they made acquiring it out of Sundance, so Hulu's not seeming like an option. The latter seems like the probable alternative, although maybe they'll just keep it where it is and drop it quick like they did with Empire of Light.
