  1. Third episode was significantly better. I actually felt like the world had more scope instead of just a series of locations, some much-needed slower pace. I still feel like this show is not living up to its potential, but I have made peace with this show not really being the adaptation I wanted. This episode at least gave me more hope that it will be watchable.
  2. I really enjoyed the movie, but how can you argue that Eternals didn't underperform? Look at the PS start which was way higher than Shang-Chi, to then open lower and bad legs is just ick.
  3. Episode 2 also falls flat unfortunately, the show still just feels like its rushing through the book and a lot of moments lack proper weight. Will probably keep watching out of curiosity but even if I ignore my issues with adaptation, feels like a disappointingly mediocre show so far. Best part of the show so far was the first half of episode 1, since then it just feels limp and lacking energy. Only thing is this episode I really liked was the Whitecloak intro, the rest felt like one big "eh." I just feel like this series lacks the scope, sense of place, and coming-of-age magic of Eye of the World. It's too gray, too grim, and too rushed to have impact.
  4. Watched the first episode so far. Was actually in many parts better than I expected but the pacing was way too fast (like seriously who came up with doing that). Hopefully the subsequent episodes don't go at lightspeed like this because it just didn't work well at all. The beginning of Eye of the World has a great buildup, just follow that! The changes were as dumb as I thought but there were some neat parts to somewhat balance things out. Overall enough to keep me watching but the second and third episodes have to be better.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised. Right now it's still only "50+" ratings so hasn't even reached 100 yet.
  6. Down to 93% and 92%. Too few ratings to be sure of where it'll end up though.
  7. That's a good thing. I like to have more control. If I want random stuff then I can make that conscious decision. The glorification of scarcity is so strange.
  8. Personally I like nostalgia when it adds to something that is good already. I don't like it when it's used as a substitute for story. But if the movie is both fun and entertaining on its own and gives some nostalgia, what's the problem? You can do the same thing by just picking random movies on streaming.
  9. Hawkeye as a straight man works surprisingly well. It does remind me of a very similar scene or promo in FATWS, though I think the vibe here works a bit better.
  10. Or they saw the opportunity to make big money from nostalgia while simultaneously setting up the next big arc in the MCU. I don't see why they would lack confidence in the new series after both of the previous entries were well-received.
  11. If a film underperforms then Deadline will be right, basically.
  12. Nah, it's Premium Dynamite Format. At any on-screen explosion, the seat blows up too.
  13. Ghostbusters MTC2 Wed: Showtimes: 45 Seats Sold: 4375/10090 (+2183) $ Sales: 66626 (+32197) A straight up Bond comp will give over 500k but this skews more MTC2 I think, being a family film. Thu: Showtimes: 3377 (+128) Seats Sold: 30002/483761 (+6218) $ Sales: 398150 (+79789) Bond Comp: 4.66 million F9 Comp: 3.72 million I believe it's heading for around 4.4 million (67k MTC2). Let's see how tomorrow goes. Btw this data from a bit earlier than Keyser, so that explains most of the discrepancy.
  14. I don't think Feige decides based on some online fans when both of the previous films were well-received by general audiences. More likely they decided that Spidey would be a good way to introduce the multiverse to a wider audience.
  15. Yep. Hopefully it chills out when the next film series (whatever that is) comes out. Of course then the fans of that series will be in the fire...
  16. I assure you plenty of people liked the prequels before the memes. The difference is before the memes if you said you liked the movies people would jump down your throat recommending the garbage videos from the Red Letter Morons and trying to convince you that they are "objectively bad" and you are "objectively wrong." Now with the memes people chilled out a bit.
  17. I don't even see what the issue with him being in high school is, the MCU has plenty of characters in their 30s but people complain because literally one character is a teenager.
  18. Best part of the trailer (other than Foxx's Electro): "You're flying out into the darkness to fight ghosts" and the accompanying swinging shot. Wish more of it had that vibe.
