Overall it was a 3/10 for me. The opening gag of having a team assembled and then killed was already done by macgruber and deadpool 2 and it was done better by those movies by a million miles. Characters just randomly trauma dump their tragic backstories to each other out of nowhere and it's such clunky writing. Gunn does this repeatedly in his films now. He also does the taser face joke thing like in gotg 2 where he keeps repeating a joke over and over. By the 3rd or 4th time polka dot man sees his mom I just wanted the movie to end. Beside that I did like polka dot man a lot, until his he gets a pointless death in an unfunny gag. The over the top violence didnt really add anything to the film and the majority of the humour is cringey juvenile stuff. Ratcatcher 2 is the star of the film for me and one of the only things I found redeeming. Bloodsport is fine but he just deadshot again. Harley was supremely boring in this. Her side plot was a huge waste of time and such a pace killer. Most disappointing film of the year for me. My audience was about 20 people. I think the only time I heard the audience laugh was weasel not being able to swim. Sigh. I want to love DC but they just dont make it easy.

I didn't like it. At all. Pretty bummed. Gunns style just does nothing for me and this movie just solidifies that. I thought gotg 2 was also bad The beginning was a recycled joke we have seen done in at least 2 other films. And then it's just a cycle of characters trauma dumping out of nowhere in between boomer rock music and shock value violence and cringey repetitive humour. 3/10.

Its easier to act like absolutely nobody enjoyed the first film. But you're right. A lot of people liked the Harley and joker romance, just like they enjoyed the soundtrack and general aesthetic. There was a lot of factors for why SS did so well including the trailers. The diversity in the cast as well. And almost all of that was dumped and they buried the joker/harley romance. It was a bad film, but there was definitely stuff in it that people enjoyed and the "sequel" tossed all of that out. I'm sure it's a great movie and I cant wait to see it this weekend but between the mediocre trailers, bad marketing, no attempt to refine and maintain things in the first film and the confusing is it a sequel or a reboot nature and on top a hard r rating when the first wasnt I dont think everything can be solely blamed on the original and it shouldnt be a surprise it wont perform well. DC would have probably been better off just doing a hard reboot instead of this strange attempt of trying to pick out certain aspects to keep and toss while explaining nothing. MCU built its brand by long term pay offs and fitting the pieces together and its now what the audience expects. DC is giving 0 pay off to anything and just throwing shit at the wall while not really caring about their audience.

Has there been any kind of uptick for TSS since reviews came out?
