  1. From Toronto Ontario (if you fancy those numbers) Im tracking about 25 theatres (I realize these are a small blip compared to US numbers, but-more data right? ) House Of Gucci- Greater Toronto Area Wed Nov 24 (taken Nov 18) 25 theatres (Yorkdale apparently having issues with a poweroutage so no count there) 92 shows Total sold 894 Total Remaining 21817 Total seats 22711 percentage 3.94
  2. Ghostbusters afterlife (final count) Toronto Ontario Friday nov 19 (taken nov 19) 13 theatres 118 shows Total sold 1225 total remaining 16139 total seats 17364 percentage 7.05
  3. Ran out of likes so couldn't be giving my usual amount :(. Maybe its time to invest in one of those little handy monthly subscriptions
  4. Okay, so because i seem to enjoy pain-Im using Gucci as a test run, Im going to try tracking 26 theatres in the GTA (I am leaving out Richmond hill as I seem to recall a a lady/gent on here was doing tracking for area). If Im stepping on any toes, let me know! This tracking will include toronto, Scarborough, Vaughn, Oakville, Newmarket, Aurora, Ajax. Im trying this with Gucci to see if I can bare to do this when those Dec films come slamming in. And without further ado: House Of Gucci- Greater Toronto Area Wed Nov 24 (taken Nov 18) 25 theatres (Yorkdale apparently having issues with a poweroutage so no count there) 92 shows Total sold 894 Total Remaining 21817 Total seats 22711 percentage 3.94 Please note should this be "successful" for me as far as counts, because of sheer number of when we are doing all those movies in Dec, I will probably do one Movie a day and alternate-Doing GTA for 4 shows at one time might be a bit much for me..ha.....hahah

  8. I put out a post complaining about Cineplex updating their site, but looks like I can get back to my original format as I had it before (thank goodness). Still threw me off though lol
  9. All those movies coming out in Dec, Im probably prep my excel sheets for doing all those counts. I don't drink alcohol at all, but this might be the thing that pushes me to the brink.....
  10. Ive wondered is there a database (other than this thread lol) where I can find quick comp numbers at a glance? I know some people just keep their own records of day by day of each film and just look back at it in their files. I don't do nearly that, and don't have numbers in my files. Just wondering any suggestion for quick references, or just "dig through the thread"?

  14. I know the first one was pretty popular, but wow. I wonder if its the very limited early showing being a fear of missing out type thing. Also wonder if this is an experiment to see how well other movies would do this type of thing.
  15. Just because why not-Bonus Early access! Sing 2 November 27 (taken Nov 10) 4 Theatres 4 shows Total sold 313 Total remaining 480 total seats 793 percentage 39.47 So yes this is being presented as an "Early Access" for 4 theatres in Toronto-and people must really be digging a Sing 2, almost 40 percent sold for this special screening.
  16. Clifford The Big Red Dog Toronto Ontario Wed Nov 10 (taken Wed Nov 10) final count 10 theatres 39 shows Total sold 1551* Total remaining 7250 total seats 8801 percentage 17.62* Private 1491 see below Okay the * is there are a number of what look like private shows in the morning. 6 shows total sold of 1491. So If you want that as a separate count or want to include as you will. Later I will probably do Thurs and Friday shows.
  17. Ghostbusters Afterlife Toronto Ontario Wed Nov 17 (taken Wed Nov 10) 6 theatres 6 shows total sold 164 total remaining 1671 Total seats (sold plus remaining) 1835 percentage 8.94 Thursday Nov 18(taken wed Nov 10) 13 theatres 66 shows total sold 168 total remaining 16321 total seats 16489 percentage 1.02 Apologies if I for some reason put in previous as this opening Today Wed Nov 10, It is a Nov 17 is opening wednesday (I don't know if I did, but sorry if I did as my mind was....obviously elsewhere) Im tempted to break my rule about Friday numbers because of the whole Cineplex dumps a ton more on Wed, I might give Friday Nov 18 numbers a try just as a snap shot
  18. Ghostbusters afterlife Toronto Ontario Thurs Nov 11 (taken nov 9) 12 theatres 36 shows Tickets sold 150 Tickets remaining 9204 total seats (sold plus remaining) 9354 percentage 1.6 as per usual I wait till Wed to track Friday numbers because of sheer amount of seats that Cineplex likes to add.
  19. Disney shorts-now that's interesting. Always thought Pixar doing shorts before their feature film was great. The overall idea, interesting, have to wonder if this is Disney trying to somehow build up again the theatre "experience" with previous films. I wonder if they are a little worried that (to their estimations) people aren't flocking back to theatres fast enough or in the numbers they would like. I ALSO wonder if this has something to do with when they were renewing their theatre agreements early covid, and when the idea of streaming same day came about. Theatres were rather vocal about it, and wonder if this was part of their agreement to be doing these sorts of things.
  20. Clifford the Big Red Dog Toronto Ontario Taken Mon Nov 8 for Wed Nov 10 previews. Total theatres 9 total shows 39 Total sold 22 total remaining 8776 total seats (sold plus remaining) 8798 percentage .25 (no I don't think that point is misplaced) Ummmm.... I don't want to jump to conclusions-but do Ontario schools have a holiday on Nov 11 for rememberance day? Because Im scratching my head otherwise who thought putting a kids movie preview on a WEDNESDAY was a good idea? And we aren't even talking prolly preteens, we are talking like maybe up to 9 or 10 years old? I dont understand it. Ill have to see what thursday/friday number are, but IMO this is not a real good look. EDIT: Almost all shows have "late" (for kids" 930, 10pm) start times., As I said there are some noon and 3pm shows, but wouldn't kids be in school? Unless theyre aiming for "school trip" packages?
  21. Ghostbusters Afterlife Toronto Ontario Taken Nov 8 for Wed Nov 17 6 Theatres 6 shows Total sold 147 Total remaining 1699 Total seats (sold plus remaining) 1846 percentage 7.96
  22. The "cracking the code" is an interesting point. Going back to movies in the 80's, where you were relying on Siskel/Ebert, newspaper critics, and at most trailers to see a movie, and those results were in newspapers which were at day old news wise. So films pretty much had to go on word of mouth otherwise. We didn't have a world where leaks of footage or from people seeing extra extra early previews would be out there. I think with todays era of information (absurd amount), critics, video blogs/podcasts, leaks, people commenting on extra early previews, discussion boards. So much data, so much info that people will base it on, and base on previous comparable movies with all that same data. Its really imo impossible to go into a movie blind anymore. Because even when see a movie, we aren't just talking about it with our friend/peer group-we are discussing it with thousands upon thousands of people on social media. I won't even get into the streaming part of it all, which is a whole other kettle of fish. So studios trying to "crack the code"-imo there IS no code (though props to Marvel/Disney for essentially assisting in recreating the "event movie" idea. Because every movie that comes out now that all that said data and information and decision making based on it, and it shifts so rapidly, and who knows now anymore what makes a movie a "success" or a "failure" because it almost feels like its never the same circumstance twice. Its is own, constantly changing almost organism lol. Anyway, sorry for wall of text, but its just something Ive been thinking for a while now
  23. Wont be long before a new movie opens on the Monday, that way studios can say "hey, look at our Mon-tues-wed-thurs-Friday opening weekend numbers!"
  24. and because Im on a roll... Ghostbusters Afterlife Toronto Ontario Taken Nov 4 for Wed Nov 17 6 Theatres 6 shows Total sold 103 Total remaining 1743 Total seats (sold plus remaining) 1846 Percentage 5.58 Starting with Ghostbusters I have added Vaughn and will be adding scarborough (when they start adding shows) as they are 2 that keep showing up in the same radius so hey why not.
