Never forget people here melted down over Infinity War's preview numbers... then it went on to break the OW record by 10 mil.

At my theater they played a promo for Regal Crown Club before the movie saying “You get points for each movie you watch this year: Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and Eternals.” And showed how much points you get for watching three movies. That got a chuckle out of me but it’s also kind of sad.

80m is not a disastrous number. If anything this weekend should prove that streaming and theaters can co-exist.

If anything is anti-consumer it is having an arbitrary "exclusive window" where in order to see your product, customers have to get into an indoor space with a hundred strangers during a pandemic, and pay 1000% mark-ups on food and drinks.

Hobbit movie kind of soured me on 48 FPS for cinema, but if Cameron is implementing it I will trust him. I would have had the same doubts about 3D before Avatar.

I was basically tearing up the whole way through. Those stories had to be real right? Maybe it's just me as someone who interacts with a lot of homeless people and hospice patients, and recently lost a close family member too soon, but each story came across as so real and emotional for me, and I lost it crying at the end. Of course beautifully shot and edited too. I'm interested if other people had such an emotional reaction or this was just the perfect movie at the perfect time for me.

With Endgame it would halt when it got to the evening showings, presumably because they were already sold out. I wonder if we see something similar here? -
Kinda annoyed it sold out so fast at NYFF. Why can an online viewing sell out in the first place?
