  1. So Thor 4 seems like it'll do better domestically and overall (when excluding movies that Thor 4 did not release in like China, Russia, Malaysia, and a few others) than Thor 3. I gotta admit I did not expect that because Thor 3 was great while Thor 4 sucked ass. El Muerto = 1B confirmed.
  2. Awww dude I have no idea. That's a good question and things are bound to change, even internally (as we have seen before with Marvel. For example Inhumans movie). I try not to guess these things but here we go.. Though I don't agree with it Eternals 2 (unfortunately) and Strange 3 are good guesses. Marvel has generally been doing sequels on 4-5+ year gaps, if they do them. So 2025 and 2026 for those two projects are somewhat reasonable. I'll just throw shit at the wall and see what sticks Deadpool Kills the Fox Universe in Feb 24. Hulk (TIH 2 or WWH). I'm 99% sure production rights to solo Hulk movies return to Marvel June '23 and people want to see Hulk as a monster and smashing stuff. Midnight Suns maybe? Feige mentioned they are building a supernatural side, though I guess it doesn't fit in the timeline, but I could see it happening. They need to introduce quite some characters first so maybe not. Blade, Ghost Rider, Werewolf, Elsa, Selene, etc still need to be introduced. Heroes 4 Hire? Feige mentioned the street level side, so this makes sense. Daredevil is being set up, Spidey, JJ, LC, Iron Fist, Punisher are all rumored to be making an appearance soon. You also have She-Hulk there. Same issue as above though. Lots of characters need to be introduced. Mutants only in 26 at the earliest if the rumors are to be believed, but maybe a new team and not the X-Men. Maybe Alpha Flight, X-Factor, X-Force, etc. I can actually see a solo Wolverine movie or a solo Scarlett Witch movie (since it's looking more and more likely she'll be a mutant and it's an easy way to introduce Magneto - especially true if they plan to bring back Fassbender for the role which is what I'm hoping - and bring back Quicksilver). I can see a Doom movie seeing as we have seen some major success for villains/anti hero movies. Or maybe that's me wishing. And though this is not part of the slate, Spidey 4 is likely for 25/26. I can see Deathlok making an appearance, but not in a movie, most likely in Armor Wars or something. Honestly though I have no clue on any of this stuff.
  3. I didn't know ET and Jaws were getting re-releases. Might watch those. I already planned to rewatch Avatar and NWH in theaters.
  4. I believe this is the correct call. They should have never made it public, but as long as the ad is not showing some illegal stuff or porn or something they should accept it on Hulu. Those political ads pay well too. What they shouldn't do though is accept ads from one side and block ads from the other side. That will open them up for attention they don't need or want. Take money from both sides. I think I only agree with Deadpool 3. If they start shooting in Jan/Feb 2023 it will be enough time to make the Feb 2024 date. The rumor on mutants is they can't start production until 2025, but maybe a derivative name and/or some random teams (i.e. Excalibur, Marauders, etc) could be a loophole. I still doubt it though. I thought Eternals sucked so I don't care for a sequel. If it comes it might be in Phase 7 for the new saga. Nova is rumored to be a D+ series. Strange 3 seems like a maybe, but more likely in Phase 7 as well for the "Eternity" saga. Shang Chi 2 is too soon and close to Kang Dynasty (I would assume Destin Daniel Cretton would be directing that). A new "Avengers" movie within a year after 2 other HUGE Avengers movie is too soon. Plus I think Young Avengers (which really is a spin off of the Avengers) is a Disney+ show instead. They may want to save that "Avengers" name for HUGE events. By 2026 those young kids will be in theirs 20s and maybe 30s. Might be too late for that anyways.
  5. Dozens of people will boycott the movie when they find out that Shuri is the new Black Panther. Dozens. The rest of us will enjoy Coogler and his greatness. I have high hopes for this film.
  6. LOL No. Disney's board would not go ahead and listen to a film director, James Cameron or otherwise, on whether or not to keep the 20th Century brand. There was never any question to keep the brand. Besides its history it is perfect for Disney for their mature content. Same with FX and Searchlight. Avatar was front and center. on disney.com the day the Fox acquisition closed. I remember that very clearly. He's not at the helm or even with the company anymore, but there was an old Iger interview where he compared Avatar to Star Wars and how the potential for merch, games, tv show, comics, novels, etc are there for Avatar and that we needed to give it time. I'm assuming Disney wants that and I wouldn't be surprised at Avatarlands being announced for other Disney parks in the next few years.
  7. The trailer hyped me back in. I do wonder if this will release in China or if the streak of Marvel movies not releasing there will continue.
  8. DS2 would not hit 1B INT even with China, so I think it should be on your mid tier level there. Same with Thor and GoTG to be honest. MCU Spider-Man movies should be in that 1B INT range and probably the only one right now. I have no idea where other MCU solos (i.e. Iron Man, Captain America, etc), MCU F4, and MCU Mutants (X-Men, Deadpool, and others)
  9. I am going to go against what everyone is saying. I do not like Gorr's design at all. His comic's design is way better IMO.
  10. Sounds like Marvel movies in India are doing numbers similar to what they were doing in China in 2008. With their growing middle class Marvel should concentrate more on that market than China since 1) I don't think India would censor their movies like China, 2) They'd probably get 40% of the gross instead of 20% or whatever from China and 3) China is blocking their movies anyways. I just don't know if multiplexes and the movie industry there is growing rapidly and if competing with bollywood and local cinema would be a bigger challenge than I'm thinking.
  11. Figured I'd put this here since I saw it on Sony's supplemental doc for their Financial Year. 5 Spider movies planned for 2023. 7 Spider movies planned in a 12 month period (04/01/2022 - 03/31/2023)
  12. That's true. But Disney is all about its branding. Smoking is allowed on PG-13 movies - and similar TV rating - but Disney makes it an internal rule that their PG-13 and lower movies will not allow smoking. It is in their best interest to have clear branding for the projects for its properties, especially its biggest one. Parents pay more attention to the branding than they do why a movie is rated a certain way.
  13. Don't get me wrong, I love the diversity. Even something that is clearly not for me and I won't watch (i.e. Ms Marvel) is a welcome change of pace and it'll be rated PG. I just think that for projects that are more adult theme or have themes that are not suitable for kids then Marvel and Disney should take it on themselves to make that branding and logo clear. Disney doesn't allow cigars and cigarettes in their PG-13 movies even if it's allowed by the MPAA, so that's nothing new for them. Marvel also has had Marvel MAX branding in comics and Marvel Knights logo for a couple of movies.
  14. 360 off 190 OW means its legs would be worse than Morbius. Would be interesting if that happened to say the least. On a side note - and I may be completely misreading things and be way wrong here - but some friends and family were sharing how aghast they were that this movie was not suitable for kids. Whether we like it or not parents are used to taking the kiddies to watch Mahvel as they considered the usual PG-13 in their movies to be okay. Something like Avengers, Iron Man, Spider-Man, etc. Not so much lately. Between this, Moon Knight, the more mature tone of Eternals (which included MCU's first on screen sex scene where John Snow plowed Gemma Chan), and more to come including rated R Deadpool I feel like Marvel should have Marvel Knights/Marvel MAX logo and branding for such projects, whether they are rated R or hard edge PG-13. Iger had touched on this before when he was CEO but they need to make sure and crystal clear when the branding is okay for families and when it's not. They have not done a good job with that so far and their most recent projects suggests to me that they should.
  15. Isn't it banned in certain countries (and not only China)? Think it might affect OS legs somehow because it won't open everywhere.
  16. If Latinos showed up for this movie because of C tier comic book latina character America Chavez being played by unknown latina actress Xochitl Gomez, then Sony made the right move by having Z lister El Muerto being played by extremely famous reggaeton artist Bunny Rabbit - or whatever his name is. I just know dude has multiple videos with billion+ views on youtube. Even I know the beat to some of his songs.
  17. Endgame was the ONLY movie ever where I could not get tickets for until the 2AM showings about 30-40 miles away. I had to call in sick the next day at work because I got home almost at 6AM. NWH took some tries, but I got it in a relatively good spot at 8 or 9PM. Strange was very easy to get good spots at the time I wanted.
  18. If you are talking about the comics the only reason she hasn't been one for a long time, i.e. 2015, is because they retconned it due to film rights (i.e AoU and DOFP were coming out). Most people who read the comics dislike the retcon because it brought absolutely nothing new (on the contrary it took her and Pietro's complex family relationship with their father away, among other things). It was done simply due to copyrights. In the MCU she has never been confirmed a mutant - and they legally couldn't until after 03/2019 - only that her powers were exacerbated due to the infinity stone.
  19. I thought the footage was okay. I want to see it again when I go watch the movie in 3D. Wish they'd release the trailer online already, but figured they'll wait until Monday.
  20. I guess I let my expectation get me way too hyped. I thought that Magneto would 100% show up and Wanda would have found out she was really the biological daughter of him and a mutant. I also expected some kind of explanation on how mutants would show up in the MCU (something what Campea and his crew were speculating). Nothing of the sorts. On the plus side we did get a badass Black Bolt. I feel confident Marvel and Feige plans to use them in the near to mid future (all "insiders" were claiming Marvel wouldn't touch inhumans ever again and there was no chance BB would be in Dr. Strange 2). Loki variants also look completely different. Since NWH had a whole movie about it they were able to use the other actors who played the character before. NGL I am also confused why they said the MCU Earth is 616. As a comic reader I'm legit confused about that.
