Dune: Part Two (2024)
vale9001 replied to Eric Loves Rey's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
Chani Paul story in the next movie will be totally different from the book i feel. The chani of the movie won't accept to became a concubine. Imo when Paul will marry Irulan she's gonna "leave him". And probably seeing Paul visions in both movies She will became the leader of a rebellion against Paul. -

For people don't know what dune is first part on plot side was too much an introduction. It's like when you have a GOT episode when the big things happens and people give to It 9.5/10, and they gave to the previous introductory episode 8/10. But the episode is a 9.5/10 is that good cause the episode before even if inconsciously is important to let people being absorbed in the atmosfere, style etc... Without that the next the next episode wouldn't be that good. As someone said now the first part will be reevalutated cause you can see how was fondamental to set everything right for the second part. And btw dune has 8.0 on imdb. This has a 9.0 right now. So It's not like the first part was hated and this loved. In the first days of the first movie i remember very positive comments about It too. Infact he debuted at around 8.3-8.4 on IMDb. -

I think in no more than a couple of weeks Warner could debut the teaser of Dune: prophecy. Probably they don't want to divert people attention from the movie until now. Now would be the perfect moment to hype the series and in part the movie too. -

I know people love to root for the artists against the mean machines are the majors but... I mean ..Warner gave 200M dollars to Villenueve for BD 2049 and that was a big flop. You could expect for him to do several "Little hits" before getting again the budget for a big movie...but It got It soon and even for such a "cursed" project like Dune. Warner said " BD2049 was a flop but we think you're talented and we still believe in you". Again the movie Is not a flop but you can't call It a success just from the box office. They still gave him 200M again for another movie. IMO Warner earned some voice on how the next chapter and all the saga should be planned 😇 -
Yeah oscars really have a big impact here. In general Italians if the promotion is right love mature dramas (they are the country of Rossellini, Antonioni, Scola etc.. after all). Wim Wenders last movie is near to 7m dollars without real oscar buzz. It's a shame Saltburn wasn't released here cause another 3-4M was in the air for me. As probably maestro would have been a decent hit too. Scorsese made 5.5M. With a movie wasn't 4 hours long probably something around 7 could have happened.

Honestly with this hype is growing up Villenueve should just close this saga with a new movie in the fall of 2026. Hope Warner can convince him and we don't have to wait until 2028 😭 -

Is the Bob Dylan biopic confirmed for this year? -
The zone of interest is doing very good in Italy. Second weekend bigger than the first. Another win story after past lives. 3M should be on lock. Sadly very bad numbers instead for All of us Strangers. Of course this doesn't have the oscar buzz around It but the very difference is on the distributors...distributors care about the movies like for zone of interest, perfect days or past lives against Disney just has the movie in ita portfolio cause It's Fox and they care only about a technical release before putting It on disney plus probably in a month 😅

In Italy saturday got a +127% jump from Friday. As said It's a 3 hours movie for adults so you shouldn't expect everything to play like It's spider man or hunger games with people having time to see It at the 3pm of a working day. Saying that I hope WOM can involve youngest people with the time. -

I have followed in the last year other 2 movies here: Barbie and Wonka 😉 For both you were predicting way worse legs than what we got it. While i appreciate predictions about a weekend based on Sales numbers, the predictions about legs are not predictable by graphics. It's about how the art hits when It's out there for people to watch It. No reason for Skyfall to make 310M final from a 66M first weekend or for Oppenheimer 320M from an 80M First weekend . But they made It. -

It's not like i'm saying It's gonna have a 5x multiplier. From a 76-77 First weekend 240-250 total is like 3.1-3.2X multiplier. The dark night wasn't this very optimistic light movie and from a very big first weekend still saw a 3.5 multiplier. From a 155M First weekend. MI7 wasn't this acclaimed. After i saw It i can say It's just another MI movie with nothing special. Doesn't have the "you are not fan of the saga but should Watch this" special factor like the dark night with batman, Sky fall with bond (another acclaimed dark movie got an 4.6 unseen multiplier in the US for the saga) and this movie imo with dune. Plus we all know about the distribution "mess" with the barbenheimer coming the week after It. -

Thanks. This Is why i don't remember It. It was there but didn't bring anywhere. Villenueve seems so precise on Building the plot, he said the mentat didn't return cause he decides to pur bene gesserit at the centre of the story. So if It's in the movie this time should have some role in the story. -

You're too conservative about the legs of this. Even with 75M opening i see It closer to 250M than 200. Competion is low for months and WOM will be amazing and Better than the first. -

32-33 would very good cause saturday and sunday holds should be good when It's a 3 hours movie with 80% of over 25. Imo would bring easily to 75+ and near to 80. With still a hope for something more.
