Fri & Sat sales for MI7 are better, especially Sat. There is a good enough shot at 80m still.
. That's weird how the 163 minute long movie that plays to a audience that works during the week might do better on the weekend.

Yea let's put the Doomsday clock to one minute to midnight after day one of the most backloaded franchise in Hollywood. Let's see where we stand come Sunday.
Asking that of so many on this forum seems not to be worth it.

Hello,
Before we go into details... Lets agree that most of us here (if not all) wants a Box Office
Alive and Kicking! Spectacular runs, lots of smashed records... you name it.
But in reality a real magic called Top Gun Maverick happens very rarely.
It does not matter how much money MI7 will make.Tom Cruise has to ask himself „ Why we have to keep milking this cow”? I am his HUGE fan for Years and despite having embarrassment efforts like Mummy reboot, remake, whatever... there's hardly another Hollywood modern star that comes even close to him.
So why Tom?
Other stars are not immune to act similar way. John Wick XX anybody? I mean seriously!?
Keanu look what they did with Point Break... pardon Fast and the Furious!
Perhaps, even a proper Speed (2) remake, reboot, whatever the effort called (sorry Sandra and Mr.Patrick).All would be forgotten, Keanu stop , just stop please.
Yes, I know i might hurt somebodys feelings by writing some of the above, but that's why you have forums in the first place, to exchange opinions I guess...

What is this?
I swear this forum needs to be nuked. Its the only way to be safe. I mean people just ignoring that we are talking about a 163 minute long movie that plays to a audience that is working during the week and has never been in a rush to see these movies in the past so why would they start now. Oh right barbenheimer.
-
Movies with good WOM and A- minus or higher Cinema scores have had legs this summer. The end.
-
I want to scream this -it is a 163 minute long movie that plays to an audience that go to work they dont take the summer off to go to movies every day. Dial of Destiny should have told us that when it made 23 million combined on the 3rd and fourth and then collapsed to 5,5 on the 5th same older target audience.

its been 4 days, just how backloaded can MI be ?
Im sorry did you just type that and mean it. Four whole days during the week when the target audience is working, for a franchise that the last two movies had IMs opening weekend to final total domestically of 3,5 for RN and 3.6 for Fallout. God I swear.

The amount of pessimism in this board is just hilarious. Once again: MI7 will be fine. It's a backloaded franchise.
Elemental taught me to be patient with these things.
Yes to this. I was going to write a long rant but I said why bother. Some people around here are just insane.

Lots of brainless doom patrol out already lead by the laughable @Maggie
200m is done after a preview number when it's Tuesday and higher than FALLOUT's?
what i really love is she slipped and showed her true colors she wanted this movie to fail because she is tired of tc making great action movies.

Ok so it’s 9.5M total actually and 7M true TUE and that’s not only very good but slighly better than what tracking thread was expecting (which would be 8-9M)
Good sign for walkups and yeah 90-100M 5 day very much alive
Not all the doom and gloom for this lol
Is it. Don't want to breath a sigh of releif yet. deadline is throwing out the 7 million number too.

Welp... There's at least gonna be a Part Two for DR. Then, honestly, probably another one after that. This "tiring" part of his career is the only thing he's interested in and I don't see that ending even if DR somewhat underperforms. Far too earlier to call anything either way.
Wow Maggie is reacting exactly how I thought she would react based on numbers that may not even be confirmed yet.
-
Not going to lie that number is a real bummer but I still feel like the casual older audience will come out on the weekend. I wonder how many of them even know it opened yet. Or they are perfectly content sitting on their ass watching it on P+ in a few months. Who the hell knows.
-
And we still don't have official numbers for Mission and the target audience is occupied in the middle of the week.
-
Regardless of what the ultimate Box office fate ends up being for Mission, Oppenheimer, and Barbie the fact that all 3 movies seem to deliver , as a movie lover that is something to celebrate.

Actually Indy 5 has a very strong weekend numbers as summer tentpole. The first Saturday has a stronger Sat than normal summer blockbuster and this 2nd weekend confirm the movie is very weekend movie. MI7 should be able to at least match that trajectory.
It's like adults work during the week. Weird.

I'm like Mr. Negativity (that would be my MCU character!) but Mission Impossible will be fine. One, there is zero reason for a 7th entry in a franchise that frankly looked like it peaked with Fallout to have a sudden steep increase because....irrational hopium as a result of Top Gun? Especially when older whites see movies at less rate than when Fallout came out? 220 would be excellent given the Part One factor and all the competing titles (Indy, Oppenbarbie). Second, it's Tuesday. I love this franchise so much. But it's a fucking Tuesday on a non-holiday week. I couldn't rush out and see it and neither could the rest of the audience. Even if the Deadline estimate is correct, which it likely isn't, then it'll be fine.
As a result of me being positive for once it will likely do less than 6m previews and like 160 domestic, huh?
I have been screaming this. us adults have jobs. we don't take a 3 month leaves from work because kids are out of school. I am chomping at the bit too see this movie but not going until saturday.

If Mi7 opens only slightly above IJ5 like some say it ain’t reaching 200 million
Why? that would be more than Fallout did it's first 5 days. Oh right Barbenheimer. Remember when adult audiences went to more than one movie a month. Those were the days. Now they sit on their ass wondering when a movie will be streaming.
-
Just wanted to once again remind people the Mission Core audience is not a run out and blow their load in a few days audience and when you release a movie on a Tuesday when we are working a lot of us are not able to go see a 163 minute long movie until the weekend. yes the freight train known as Barbenheimer is coming so we just assume the audience will change their habit and go early this time. It does not work that way. If WOM is good to great the audience will come and this will perform like a Mission movie does.

Why does domestic audience ignore Mission Impossible every single time? @jatpc , does it look like a flop domestically ?
Okay lets not carried away here. Is it disappointing that the Mission movies have never broken past a certain ceiling domestically yeah but to say people ignore them is a little too far. And we are literally a few hours into the release let''s wait until we get some actual real numbers before we do the doom and gloom thing.

If that happens, that would mean July 21-23 2023 would be the highest weekend in total gross since... Endgame's opening weekend, eclipsing NWH's OW.
RIP holdovers
Ah The irony of the that being a massive weekend at the BO while the town is completely shut down because of pure evil greed.
