  1. I guess you could say Shazam....died suddenly. YYYYYYEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHH WON'T GET FOOOLEEDDD AGGGAAAAAIIINNNN
  2. This seems like it's kinda pointing out how bad Shazam's release slot is. At least some of the massive Wick 4 aud would've gone to Shazam if Wick 4 wasn't dropping week 2. Shazam 2 was poleaxed and probably should've gotten an Aug/Sept slot if WB wanted it to get anything.
  3. I can't help but wonder if Aquaman 2 will get chunked to some disposable slot next year if Shazam 2 and Blue Beetle both tank. The IMAX screens would probably serve Dune better and it's essentially another "dead version of DC" movie.
  4. It seems very unfair to go after the director for an "at least I got paid" statement. He's not dishing on WB or trying to make the execs look stupid. He's not insulting the film's stars or crew. He's just admitting he had financial motivation in taking the Shazam 2 job. Did we seriously think he was doing this for Academy Awards? I'm pretty certain WB already didn't think the movie viable and didn't want to spend too much on marketing it. Most of these things like Rachel's reaction will be forgotten shortly because nobody cares that much about this other than "it bombed". It wasn't some kind of Lone Ranger/F4 2015 level quality control failure so that aspect won't be remembered either.
  5. I think some younger people don't realize how massive a draw Nicholson as Joker was. Rock as Black Adam was like a kid doing a high school musical in comparison to how people reacted to Nicholson in that movie.
  6. There is if its a bunch of generic posts on "superhero fatigue" rather than the obvious reason that movies from an already cancelled DC universe are being released as cash grabs. I think even the least aware audiences know that the main DC continuity is getting rebooted and aren't spending 10 dollars plus on tickets to 'em. That said Shazam ALSO has the Rock's greed screwing that particular series over. You couldn't have come up with a better means of making Shazam a non-event.
  7. Mario will be an absolute rocket. Only limiting factor is interest among the REALLY old (i.e. people over 55). Most other groups have either grown up with Mario or have children that have at this point. I have no idea why people would underestimate Mario other than age.
  8. Not nearly enough to be profitable at the asking price he was demanding for Black Adam, which kills his economic value to DC.
  9. Yeah, they could have went the Monster Society/Mister Mind route. Or at least put in Tawky Tawny somehow for the Rocket Raccoon fans.
  10. WOW the same rating as Love and Thunder WE GOT THE NEXT CASABLANCA HERE PEEPS These Twitter shills need to shut up. They ain't fooling anyone.
  11. Also, there's little chance this would have done better released right next to Avatar 2 vs. 3 weeks after Quantumania. "Hey kids, Space Mountain is nice, but you REALLY want the Twirl 'n Hurl!" Yeah, I'm sure that'd go over well.
  12. I'm skeptical the studio people care that much. It's easy to tell the movie's a financial failure and trying to "El Cid" it looks ridiculous to anyone outside LA. WB has basically already written the thing off via underpromotion. The only reason it still got released instead of Batgirl'd was probably some stipulation in Rock's EP contract.
  13. Do we have a "true Friday" update for Shazam yet? I think that'll be more revealing than the RT Verified/Cinemascore stuff at this point. This movie desperately needs viewers. We already know it lost the Rotten war and will have to suffer the consequences in terms of hype going forward.
  14. 28-33 mil IMO. Still think being a sequel means it burns more audience opening night (Thurs.)
  15. Nah, Cinemascore sucks. The whole "A- Dominion" thing points out how wonky it is. Waaaay too small a sample to be reliable. Basically the only way its useful is if "B- or below=bad legs" still holds. But for anything above B- it really doesn't work too well. Everyone forgets that Joker was only a B+, which is why I try to avoid relying on it like the plague.
  16. "thunders" to 3.4. Thunderfarts more like it. Probably high 20s opening (since it's still a franchise and the most invested views are likely to rush out early).
  17. Really think we're reading too much into Cinemascore to evaluate a movie's audience pop/legs. Panther 2 was an A- and it still had kind of sucky legs. I can't see a Shazam movie that underperforms its opening week doing well.
  18. Nah, the Tomato rating isn't actually high enough to pull people. Love and Thunder was Fresh and that was generally considered janky by audiences. This is maybe gonna be a couple points higher than Quantumania but it won't be a critical fave.
  19. I interpreted it as Shazam was the part of Billy's personality that was withdrawn because he was a depressed foster kid. But again, that makes less sense when he's not really a "kid" anymore. Shazam should have changed with Billy's age somewhat.
