  1. The kids run to CATCHING FIRE. They belong to the same demographics. Maybe $630M+ WW
  2. GRAVITY will hit $30M but too bad it will not outgross WWZ
  3. Benny Chan is rather, you know, I don't want to be too direct. But WHO AM I has some of the best Jackie Chan action ever. The movie looks expensive & polished but the story/plotting is one of the worst.
  4. THOR 2 & MoS are expected to do around $700M - $800M WW, with some predicting MoS north of $900M. Their final numbers are both (minor) disappointments. GRAVITY was generally predicted to do $400M WW by many. When the 1st Saturday number was published, I went bullish and predicted $600M+ WW. A $400M WW is a pretty good performance for Warner, a $650M WW is truly gravity-defying.
  5. It's not that simple for some deals. For example, Lionsgate or some studio may get an up-front pre-sale deal If Lionsgate sold EP to the Chinese for $10M, it is not bad. But if they sold it for $1M they may be banging their head against the wall now.
  6. Good Box-Office is Impossible for GRAVITY in December. But then again, EP survived THOR2 and GRAVITY.
  7. How is liking TED embarrassing to an Israeli? I can understand why DICTATOR can be really annoying to some, but TED?
  8. Current WW $577M (incl. China opening) China $40M Rest of OS $30M N.A. $10M Japan $20M Total WW $677M Agree?
  9. With no major releases until the end of the year, GRAVITY will have no problem hitting $80M in China, unless CARTEL WAR, LOST or FALLING FEATHER break out in a major way.
  10. It has the best action sequence in all of the IM series. The race track attack. But I think most fans are right, the 2nd & 3rd act can be a bit better written. They should focus on Stark vs Vanko/Hammer conflict rather than meandering into burger time with Nick Fury, teary video made by dad, fight with your army buddy etc.
  11. What is the percentage like? 90% of gross revenue? How do theaters in foreign territories earn with that kind of % when US theaters are complaining about not earning when studios take a lion share of the revenue at 50%?? So bizarre....
  12. In any other business, I want to get more out of my investment. 25% is puny considering I am taking all the risk, constant pursuit of creativity, infrastructure, investment in talents being groomed to be stars, publicity cost, other investment in peripheral industries, a mountain of legal fees. What does local distributor do really? Some movies practically market themselves. Getting 50% out of my blood & sweat, and the studios are getting "Oh, pleeeaase..."?
  13. EP's numbers look very nice. A nice surprise for the seniors. GRAVITY is just insane! And CF major disappointment!
  14. I am expecting more than "around $160M" With the expected huge drop next week, the film will be less likely to do $400M or $390M I guess the "a sequel will never outdo a $400M original film" rule still holds for CF.
