CF, HOBBITS 2 are screen-devouring monsters. Audience will still be discovering GRAVITY but the loss of IMAX screens is the biggest blow to box office longevity for the movie. If Warner could not release this in the summer, they should have released it in September, a month where there is little competition. Imagine what it could do during Sept & October before THOR 2 & CF

PS: Warner got got by China with PACRIM.... $112M, how much of that gets into Warner's hands...?

I think it performed well in Europe but not as great as I hope it would. Oz, Brazil, Germany, Spain & Italy results are good but not excellent. Russia is great, Mexico is fantastic, but the nice surprise is France with $32M so far. UK will do great too. But the real watch is on China. Many are hoping it would top Warner's own MoS ($63M) with the slight outside chance of nearing Warner's other smash, PACRIM ($112M).

EP earning $40M in China will be nice. That is 600 million middle class population will bring to you. Hollywood should court Chinese audience more. And smartly. Instead of doing offensive Asian caricatures like Mr Chow from TH series.

GIJOE2 & DIE HARD 5 did very well in China. EP has similar action heroic elements.

GRAVITY is predicted to do more than WWZ's $6.9M Very nice number. A pretty cool counterprogramming against the teeny CF and now that THOR 2 is dropping hard.

Watch out for Brazil & Mexico. Brazil did an amazing number for WOLVERINE.

That's the reason why some movies open with a thunderous soundtrack with gigantic lettering after the studio logo. Boooom-swish-brrrrmmm - to keep the jaded chatty audience quiet. During GRAVITY's first 10 minutes people are sighing, pulling out their cellphones. Only when the debris comes in, they are in rapt, all the way to the end. Audience nowadays are not so used to long elaborate takes. They are all Michael-Bay-ed. And H'wood is just gonna escalate till there are no more dialogues and exposition scenes, just wall-to-wall action to keep them off those damn cellphones !!!
