I still think it won't quite reach $900m but it's going to be very close. The fact that it can come closer to 900 than 850 is already astonishing and absurd. I think it has reached all time top ten in a few countries as well (in Australia it sure has). Just....WOW. It should do well on home video market as well. People who think this movie won't be remembered well compared to other Oscar winning movies are either clueless or biased.

People who love BR (GA and awards members/voters) are the ones who can actually make the difference at the Box Office and the award season so of course their opinions do matter.

You people who think Rami is bad in BR are certainly entitled to your opinion. Fortunately most people whose opinion do matter seem to disagree with you, otherwise the movie wouldn't have made that much money and Rami wouldn't have been nominated/won these many awards.

Any reasons why MP is underperforming in Japan of all places? I thought Disney's musical is their bread and butter. I know it's underperformed anywhere but UK but Japan is one market that doesn't always follow the WW trend.😐

Of course not. People just choose to see the movie that look appealing to them and if they like it recommend it to other people. Some critically good movies don't always have that appeal. GA don't see a movies to analyse it. They just want to have a good time.

The article only stated what the unnamed 'source' said about how much money he 'could' earn based on the BO number. They wouldn't know shit how much he will actually earn because how could they know what kind of agreement FOX had with Singer before firing him? In short, just another negative article aiming to bring this movie down after the gazillion ones before this couldn't do the job. Any dollars I've spent on the movies I enjoyed are the money well-spent. I don't care if those movies were made from the 'right' people or not. They should have attacked every named A-listers who've worked with Singer in the past while they're at it. Why shaming just ONE movie like it's his only work that matters?

Not in my country where BR just entered the all time top 10. Certainly not in Europe, South Korea and Japan. And since the number of people have seen it multiple times, if the movie was really forgotten in 3 months, that'd be case of mass Alzheimer's than the fault of the movie.

Your mum sounds like pretty much everyone I know in the real world who have seen this movie. My mum for example went to see this movie twice and still can't stop raving about it. And it's the people in the real world who've voted with their wallet. Must be sucked to be the haters of this movie. So loud and overactive in speaking their mind and spreading the hatred among the like-minded people, so powerless in stoping people in the real world from loving it.

Too bad AUD has been so weak. With a better ER we would have added $10-15m more to the (already absurdly amazing) WW number.

So it seems to me that BR has indeed had a very comparable BO run to Les Mis since X-Mas. BR did drop harder than Les Mis last weekend (-37 vs -24) but it should still be on track to $110mil, right?

Thanks. It's been showing some insane leg in Australia (where I live) too. My mum wasn't a Queen fan before the movie but after the movie she's been watching/listening to Queen non-stop. 😄. I guess the movie must have had the same effect on most people. I've seen it twice myself.

That's quite a staying power for BR. Do movies usually have long leg in Italy? I remember you said most movies lost steam after week 4. Were Queen very popular in Italy before the movie?

I did follow Titanic run pretty closely back then but honestly after watching Titanic in theatre and was blown away I kinda expected it to do something extraordinary at the BO. It had everything going for it and the movie just did everything right. It had Leo and love story for the girls, spectacular special effects for the boy, history and drama for older people. Critical reception was insane and audience reception was even crazier. I was over the moon with it's run but wasn't that 'surprised'. BR run just comes out of nowhere. People just love it despite being reminded again and again by everyday media that they shouldn't. Heck, after it's GG wins there're way too many articles reminding us how 'undeserved' the movie was and how it wasn't even a good movie but seems like people just prefer to think for themselves based on the Dom and OS 'drop'.

Re-reading this thread is like fallowing an auction. The bidding just kept going higher and higher. I used to think $500m OS was TOO much for this type of movie!

The released date has already been advertised everywhere. And to think ASIB which came out before this movie won't have it's home release until March or something. FOX really being short-sighted when they decided on the home vdo release of BR.

Good to know Japan can't have it on blu-ray until March. I really want this to reach 800 ww!
