  1. Again what about it says great for the film medium though? To me the video game properties that could truly do well are the story driven/adventure ones. Uncharted for example can be massive if it's done right.
  2. Why would they though? I think most people who played the game shared the opinion I did: why on earth does that need to be a movie? It's a fun game to play, would I ever want to watch a movie about it though? Hell no.
  3. I really don't see an excuse for an OW below RA2 though. Should have looked a lot more appealing than that and Johnson should have added some extra draw power to Hart's, not diminished it.
  4. Still a disappointment though. It should have easily had a shot at a 50m OW given the draw power of Hart and Johnson but I think they really dropped the ball on marketing. The campaign seemed incredibly quiet to me, hardly saw a thing for it.
  5. This looks absolutely horrid from the marketing, and this coming from someone who has always enjoyed this franchise on a cute diversion kind of level, despite none of the sequels needing to have existed. But really, it looks like the entire goal of this one was to see just how low brow they could stoop. I'd say a terrible movie combined with Dory and Pets grossing absurd amounts of money right before this will create a DOM total as low as 50-60m.
  6. Yeah, WiR would be a recent example. Though Uni has one too now what with Nintendoland coming to several Universal parks worldwide.
  7. With the level of talent at WDAS right now, I honestly wouldn't be totally opposed to this. Only if they can pull a Toy Story though and match the quality of the first, which is a tall order.
  8. Ocarina of Time is such a great story that with the proper tweaking for the medium I'm sure could be just as great in film.
  9. Both are still too niche and video gamey to do well, imo. Elder Scrolls would be the best bet as far as fantasy video game adaptations. It is much more in line with LotR or GoT in its ability to be mainstream and break out of the nerd stigma.
  10. So the question is will Warcraft even post any profit for Uni? They only get a fraction of the Chinese gross right? I'm hoping they lose on it so studios will maybe be more cautious once and for all about making shitty video game adaptations. I honestly believe the genre could become the next CBM of cinema if studios would just pick the right ones and handle them with the care and thought that most CBMs are today. There are some amazing video games out there these days that can lend themselves brilliantly to film. And no Warcraft wasn't one of them anymore than Doom or Need For Speed were.
  11. Dory is taking all the top grossing unadjusted animated records out there. Nemo's original adjusted gross is in play too now (although it likely still can't beat its admissions).
  12. That drop is surprising for TC2 in spite of the kind of movie it is. It seems like WOM is irrelevant this summer, movies just aren't having good legs. Really hope Dory bucks that trend.
  13. Shrek 2's days on the animated throne look to finally be numbered. Dory is only gonna need like a 3.2-3.3x multi with the OW it looks to be headed for.
  14. Loki and Hulk are draws though, and more importantly the movie will probably be the most important in setting up IW1.
  15. With the perfect track record of quality of the TS franchise and now Dory turning out better than a Nemo sequel really had a right to be, I'm going to give Pixar the benefit of the doubt right now in regards to TS4. Hoping they really do have an amazing story idea yet again and it's not just a cash grab like a certain other Pixar franchise.
