Sorry but Pirates far outshines potter in technical filmmaking, especially the visual effects, apart from OST though we all know that was a huge step backward visually.

HP1 was a big success because it was released shortly after the release of the book causing it to have massive hype, it's huge gross was expected. The fact No other potter film has ever come close to matching it just showes what people thought of it. LOTR was released over half a century after the books were made so the fact it even become as successfull as it did was a lot more suprising and lets face it, if HP1 did sell more tickets than ROTK, it wasn't by much. LOTR movies averagely sold more tickets than your Harry potter films.

Noctis it's not that potter isn't well made, it's just when you compare into films like POTC 1-3, avatar, LOTR and many others it's a league below. This is why it will never win a visual effects Oscar because the force-field over hogwarts in DH2 aside, everything else just looks cheaply done.

I'm not saying twilight is better literature, I happen to think its an embarrassment to moviemaking however from what I can see its had more of a noticable impact on life.An entire generation also grew up with Star Wars, has changed the sci-fi genre as we knew it and has merchandise that's still selling like wild fire 35 years down the line yet people still believe potter has had a more cultural impact just because it sold a lot of books. I'd even argue more people have seen a star wars movie than read a Harry potter book.

I hate to say this but to some degree I'd even say Twilight has had a larger cultural impact than potter. The twilight saga has managed to turn vampires into sex icons and theres also been tv series that's spawned because of it like The vampire diaries and true blood.

Warrior and 50/50. Now stop moaning, harry potter made a ton of money. If your gonna show sympathy towards a film, 50/50 and warrior should get it, they earned next to nothing and had not even one Oscar nomination yet both films were better than DH2 and ELIC.

Your all moaning that potter hasn't got a BP nod. What about Warrior? It's more emotional, has better acting and has the ingredients for a best picture contender. That film got snubbed, not the film that made way over a billion.
