When talking about market growth, you better leave India and Japan out of the discussion because these two are already developed markets that don't have any (significant) market growth at all. South Korea had some good market growth over the past few years but it's a relatively small and developed country, so it's going to hit the peak soon.

If we're talking about non-real sequel followup, then I think Titanic->Avatar is a better comparison (for A1->A2). Yes it sounds crazy, but look at the facts, 12-year apart/11-year apart, a lot of backlash and people calling Cameron just got lucky last time, both a chick flick. Not that I think A2 will increase 150m from A1, but you get the idea.

Seriously, since Michael Bay considers Cameron one of his idols, Bay better learns how to bullshit from him as well. Cameron is one of those that has this strength of forming a well-structured speech, whether that speech is bullshit or not. Look how embarrassed Bay was in this clip. Some teleprompter issue and suddenly he didnt know how to talk. If Cameron were in this situation, he'd still be bullshitting all the way through. -

Well I guess then Avatar haters ain't really hating it. They just had some statements about aspects of it. Anyway, Cameron is definitely wrong. I think Cameron has lost his mind on this case. I mean, how could he say it's a good movie. It bored the crap out of me.

I'm not sure if this is unpopular but IMO Singer's first two X-men movies are much better than Logan.
