  1. Solid preview numbers so far! Scary Stories should be able to do $18-$20 million opening weekend with that number or maybe higher. While for Dora I can see it pull higher with families for the weekend, but unsure what it’s turnout will be.
  2. Hobbs & Shaw’s debut is really solid for a spin-off! It’s a far cry from the other films in the franchise, but when you consider that they all were April to earlier in the summer releases and that this is one of Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s top debuts that’s excellent! With the lack of blockbusters coming, this could potentially hold slightly better than its predecessors as well. Overall for right now Hobbs & Shaw should shoot up north of $170 million domestic. The Lion King still pulling strong for Disney. As it’s easily now the highest grossing in film to be released in July, which it outgrossed Dead Man Chests $423.3 million domestic total this weekend. Overall $550 million or so domestic doesn’t seem like a problem at this point. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is playing similar to Inglorious Basterds. This one will be one of the most awesome success stories of the summer. Who would’ve thought a film like this would outgross Godzilla or X-Men and so on, this will be one of my favorite box office runs to look forward to. Hopefully this would shine between $120-$125 million domestic! Spider-Man, Yesterday, and Toy Story 4 still holding on strong as each film will probably play healthy for the somewhat quieter end to summer. Spidey should do $400 million, Yesterday $75 million, and Toy Story $425 million domestic if not more for each movie. The Farewell is having a solid smaller expansion. this should play for the dog days of summer for sure. Crawl holding decent as it can come close to $40 million domestic. Paramount should be pleased with this before the DOA opening weekend of Dora. Aladdin has been playing on the top 10 about as long as a movie did in the 80’s or 90’s! Domestic total may be tough for this maybe a total close to The Jungle Book. Annabelle still hangin around. $75 million or so domestically will be beast hopefully $80 million. Secret Life Of Pets hanging on, John Wick 3 passed $170 million this weekend. Next weekend Hobbs & Shaw will easily lead the top spot as new releases such as Dora will do on-par with Christopher Robin, Kitchen around $10-$12 million, Scary Stories will do $7-$8.5 million, Art Of Racing In The Rain will do $5.5-$7 million, and Brian Banks will do $3 million. The top 12 was up almost 15% from last year when Mission Impossible:Fallout led while Christopher Robin did average, and The Darkest Minds and the underrated Spy Who Dumped Me bombed.
  3. Nope but I own it. Bought it at a garage sale this past summer as well the sequels.
  4. If you ain’t gonna talk box office then there’s the classic conversation thread. decent for Hobbs & Shaw. Lion King will come back to the top on August 16-18.
  5. My top films: American Pie South Park Big Daddy Dogma Payback Varsity Blues Blair Witch Project House On Haunted Hill Fight Club End Of Days Stir Of Echoes Deep Blue Sea 8MM Blue Streak Bowfinger Austin Powers Spy Who Shagged Me Deuce Bigelow Male Gigolo Good as teen but might like as an adult: Rage Carrie 2 Need to revisit: The Mummy Bats Analyze This World Is Not Enough Toy Story 2 Lake Placid need to watch: The Matrix Entrapment Go Idle Hands Worst: Life Wild Wild West and The Haunting Saw them on tape May have to rewatch to laugh at them or I may like them lol. A great year of films!
  6. Dora: $22 million Kitchen: $11 million Scary Stories: $8 million Art Of Racing In The Rain: $7 million Brian Banks: $3 million
  7. Really actually pretty good early numbers Hobbs and Shaw, this is a buddy movie and also a spin-off more than a franchise film.if it’s budget is $200 million, it will have international markets help out to turn a profitable success. I hope Hollywood doesn’t die off, we need more good quality films than all Disney and superhero films.
  8. Green Book did really well in this slot thanks to Academy Awards boost. But this is a completely different film. Saw the trailer at Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, this looks pretty good! It should be a hit with the adults in the holidays.
  9. Yeah... late summer will help Lion King out. Probably as something for families as they’re going back to school, this would be a good one for them to see
  10. The Lion King’s 2nd weekend decline seems kinda normal. The last July record breaker, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 dropped way worse than this with over 70%, while that’s not a complete solid comparison that’s still something to say at least. Domestic total for Lion King is tough to say at the moment but by next weekend this should be over $1 billion worldwide! Once Upon A Time In Hollywood debuted quite solid with an estimated $40.3 million. As a fan of the film I’m quite happy to see this result! This is Quentin Tarrantino’s Best debut for his career! While it is Leonardo Dicaprio’s 4th best debut, Brad Pitt’s sixth(technically fifth if you take out Deadpool 2), and Margot Robbie’s 2nd best debut! This is also the best non-Disney or comic book or sequel debut since Us! While cinemascore is unreliable it’s B- is bologna when you consider real word of mouth, and as for legs this will play well with adults in the late summer. Overall I’m expecting Hollywood to shine it lights around $120 million domestic at the moment. But I hope we can get some great legs in the dailies For the other releases, what else is there to talk about? We now officially have five films already in mid-year pass $1 billion. Crawl is playing solid for a monster movie that little marketing. Then next weekend Hobbs & Shaw Im expecting to muscle out between $65-$75 million as it will be the first non-Disney movie to number one since Men In Black: International.
  11. Very good hold! This and The Intruder both outgross Seth Rogen and could potentially outgross The Hustle. I would have never thought that, this summer
  12. OW: $14-$16 million 3-day DOM: $55-$60 million
  13. This is more of a character driven film which is quite rare in today’s day and age which what makes Once Upon A Time In Hollywood very good! Brad Pitt and Leo did a great job! The other cast members did great too. Margot Robbie did a good job as Sharon Tate and was quite beautiful. And Kurt Rusell’s narration bits were entertaining. Also the setup and style of Hollywood was fantastic! The looks of Hollywood, Tarantino pulled this one off excellent! Longer film to talk about, but this and Shaft are now definitely my top 2 of the summer and of 2019 thus far! I think with a second viewing I may give it higher, but for now a very high 88-89% B+
  14. No matter how you look at this, that’s a great number for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood! This is a tough comparison since R-rated 2 and a half hour tentpoles are rare. So hopefully $50 million+ does happen!

  16. It’s performing a lot better than other films that had more marketing but had a goofy plot.
  17. The Lion King is playing like a film released around Christmas time. It’s numbers are really good! Anything over $80 million 2nd weekend would be amazing! But I’m here for Hollywood’s preview number.
